The WFA Operations Control - Control Associate will consult with senior leaders in developing corrective actions for new issues and will be assigned to monitor the resolution of outstanding issues to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and the Corporate Issue Management Policy. The Associate will partner with business owners to ensure controls are well designed in order to address the risk and root cause of the issue. The Associate will partner with business process owner and functional partners in Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) workshops. They will also work with the business to implement control processes to mitigate and reduce risk, and ensure that controls are documented to mitigate the risk and operate effectively. In addition, the Associate will support monthly and quarterly risk reporting requirements. They will also provide pre-validation testing support to provide assurance that the issue has been properly remediated before the issue is closed or validated by another testing function.

Specific core competencies include:

* Supporting WFA Operations Group Leaders and WIM Operations Control Leader in ensuring effective front line risk identification, measurement, monitoring, controls and mitigation; counseling business leaders on risk, issues, and remediation
* Maintaining deep and dynamic understanding of the key business processes core to the WFA business
* Identifying and assessing risks with the business
* Designing new and enhancing existing controls in partnership with business owners including effectiveness measures, implementation support, validation of effectiveness post-implementation and controls evaluation based on defined triggers
* Tracing controls back to formal, documented business procedures owned in the business
* Providing ongoing monitoring and assessment of the operating/control environment, including business environment changes such as new business initiatives, product change, regulatory change and/or enterprise policy change
* Facilitating end to end issues management for functional areas within WFA Operations
* Develop action plans and validate sustainability
* Identifying appropriate root cause and any relevant themes/trends to lead to proactive risk mitigation

IMPORTANT: This position will start remotely, however candidates will be expected to return to 1 N. Jefferson Ave in Saint Louis, NO at a future point in time. Please Note: This role is not open to telecommute long term.

Required Qualifications
* 2+ years of risk management experience demonstrated through work or military; or 1+ year of financial services industry experience and a BS/BA degree or higher in business

* Bachelors degree in either accounting or finance
* The ability to effectively interact with all levels of management and staff
* Strong analytical and critical thinking skills as well as ability to gain an understanding of and evaluate the internal controls of previously unfamiliar areas
* Strong organizational skills, ability to work independently and on multiple initiatives concurrently
* Should have or be willing to obtain NASD Series 7 securities registration
* Knowledge and understanding of Brokerage industry: control, compliance, risk management, or audit operations
* Experience working in or closely with Wealth and Investment Management lines of business (or external equivalents) sufficient to demonstrate a working knowledge of their products/services, key processes/systems, and organizational structure
* Strong technical knowledge of risk management frameworks and principles, internal control design objectives, audit/testing/quality assurance methodologies
* Familiarity with root cause analysis
* The ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously while delivering all commitments on time and with high quality
* Prefer candidate with experience performing audit engagements within brokerage and/or investment advisory
* Prefer candidate with experience with SHRP Issue Management and performing issue validations
