The Chief Operating Office (COO) is responsible for delivering a more consistent approach to business operations across Wells Fargo, strengthening the companys risk and control infrastructure, and delivering effective and efficient enterprise services to employees and customers.
The COO group includes the head of Operations, who is jointly responsible for line of business operations with each of the five LOB CEOs. Operations functions include contact center operations, client servicing support, money movements within our businesses, lending operations, and other functions.
The COO group also includes a number of teams dedicated to strengthening Wells Fargos risk and control infrastructure. These include the Control Executive team; Regulatory and Policy Affairs; Enterprise Customer Excellence; Sales Practices Oversight and Management; and Strategic Execution and Operations.
The Chief Administrative Office, encompassing the Corporate Properties Group; Corporate Security; Enterprise Business Resiliency; Strategic Programs and Process Improvement; Enterprise Change Management; Supply Chain Management; and Data Management and Insights, delivers important services for our employees and customers.
We have 3 new opportunities available, described below:
1) Enterprise Risk Identification & Assessment (ERIA)
The person selected for this position will lead the overall strategy, management, and execution the ERIA program, including driving the management of the Enterprise Risk Assessment process, developing the linkage from feeder processes, driving strategy & methodology with central enterprise teams, managing the presentation of the assessment output into governance and reporting, partnering with CAO and ECE Business Aligned Control Executive teams to drive input into the assessment process, and partnering with Risk Appetite to drive comparison of assessed risk against appetite. This role will act as the primary point of contact for Enterprise Risk Assessment Escalation, will provide challenge, feedback and communication across regulatory deliverables, including examination announcement and meeting preparation, responses, documentation, as well as coordinating with other Sr. Officers & Directors.
Specific Responsibilities include:
* Lead stakeholder forums and influence results across diverse groups.
* Liaise between various control organizations to serve the needs of COO.
* Provide expert level risk management acumen to business for designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements.
* Develop, implement, and continually improve processes, frameworks, reporting, tools, and governance routines in support of successful program management.
* Plan and execute activities in accordance with program requirements.
* Aggregate, evaluate, and report results.
2) Risk & Control Management
This role acts as the primary control contact related to risk and control ongoing monitoring. Will help drive and design the mechanisms for ongoing Risk and Control Assessments across the COO Organization. Will design & manage the continuous monitoring of forward-looking key risk indicator metrics that provide early warning signs that an existing risk is likely to gain velocity and severity, or that can be predictive of new emerging risks. In addition will design and establish key control indicators that provide a forward-looking view that existing controls may be likely to change effectiveness status. The role holder will design trigger management protocols utilizing data from various sources including internal and external events and linkages to RCSA processes.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
* Create engagement model with Evidence Based Control Evaluations processes and teams
* Partner with Issue Management teams to develop mechanisms to incorporate issue management data
* Design Thematic Review and Coordination
* Provide challenge / feedback across regulator deliverables, communications, including examination announcement and meeting preparation across CR COE, responses, documentation, and conduct material challenge activities
* Coordinates with other Sr. Officers
* Partner with LOB CE leads on thematic issues
3) Regulatory, BPM & Business Liaison
This role will lead the overall strategy, management, and execution of the COO Risk Identification & Assessment teams commitments towards the incorporation of material regulatory obligations in the identification of risk. In addition, the role holder will act as the main linkage with the Business Process Mapping (BPM) team for the COO Risk Identification & Assessment team. This will help ensure that the business processes flow through to the Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA) by identifying the appropriate risks and incorporating the required controls based on processes mapped to the enterprise COO Organizations activities. The role holder will also act as the liaison for the COO Risk Identification & Assessment team to the Enterprise Customer Excellence team and Chief Administrative Office.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
* Actively engage with Front Line Control leadership, Independent Risk Management, and COO Line of Business leadership. Position will be responsible for critical functions, including program development, data analysis, stakeholder management, and regulatory items response.
* Aid in the compliance with regulatory requirements, and effective identification and management of compliance risk
* Liaison with Regulatory Change Management governing roles and responsibilities, standards for controls and inventory of U.S. federal, state, and international laws, rules, and regulations
* Drive robust linkage to Regulatory Material Requirement mapping process
* Manage the Regulatory Requirement Applicability to risk assessable units
* Completeness check of regulatory obligations in RCSA
* Lead the efforts around business process mapping to risks and controls
* Ensure robust linkage to RCSA process in identification of controls along the process cycle
* Completeness check of controls in RCSA
* Policy framework linkage through to controls
* Act as the main liaison with the Enterprise Customer Excellence control team and business & Chief Administrative Office control team and business
Responsibilities for all three roles:
* Develop and deliver compelling presentations to senior and executive leadership.
* Lead implementation of highly complex initiatives with high risk, generally spanning multiple business lines.
* Interface with Audit, Legal, external agencies, and regulatory bodies regarding risk management of business-specific risk programs.
* Coach other team members.
* Help the whole team succeed, individually and as one.
Required Qualifications
* 10+ years of experience in risk management or 10+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 7+ years must include direct experience in risk management

* Process design or improvement experience
* Ability to influence across all organizational levels, particularly senior management

* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

* Experience working with the Shared Risk Platform (SHRP)

* Experience implementing significant risk programs
* Strong experience designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements.
* Experience in designing, monitoring and/or remediation of controls
* Strong RCSA and Issue Management experience
* Experience with the development, implementation, and continual improvement of processes, frameworks, reporting, tools, and governance routines
* Experience with issue escalation, challenge, feedback and communication
* Experience with aggregating, evaluating and reporting results.

* Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with groups processes
* Ability to evaluate changes to laws, processes, etc. to assess impacts and to develop implementation plan to close gaps
* A deep understanding of enterprise risk management framework including risk identification, risk appetite and strategy, risk-related decisions, processes and controls, risk analytics and governance
* Experience with management reporting (dashboards, PPT, etc.)
* Experience creating executive presentations
