Application/Automation Engineer is responsible for implementing, maintaining and administration PayPals Enterprise job scheduling platforms. The position requires an ability to provide technical support in troubleshooting issues, upgrading the require applications when needed, providing technical support to Batch and Job Scheduling team members and integrating with other applications as necessary. The AE will be primary admin resource for the BMC Control-M application. In addition, the AE will assist in troubleshooting of migration related problems and engage with development resources to implement sustainable and manageable solutions. The AE resources will be required to develop and implement scripting to assist in the automation and migration plans.

Specific objectives include:
* Deep technical knowledge, gained with 3-5 years of progressively more responsible experience, on the BMC Control-M platform as a whole, all of its core components (EM, CCM, Agents, GUI, etc.), supporting services (Database, OS, etc.), and front-end client usage. BMC certificates strongly preferred.
* Experience with planning, scheduling, and successfully migrating similar Control-M environments
* Strong knowledge of distributed platforms linux.
* Coding experience in Python , Perl and of Shell Scripting.
* Execute technology tasks related to configuration and process changes associated with all stages of implementation including
* Report and assess risks to business and technology functionality
* Security requirements
* Contribute to capacity planning and hardware specifications
* Contribute to business requirements, functional requirements, test plans and other development documentation
* Participate in team meetings
* Respond to and resolve testing defects
* Support go-live planning and production go-live
* Contribute to a plan for implementing major releases, patches, upgrades, etc.
* Exhibit ability to install and configure Control-M/Server
* Implement Control-M add-ons as requested for change requests, archiving and Managed File Transfer Enterprise
* Contribute to discussions of security options with insight on users and groups, configuration options as well as LDAP support options
* Implement workload management and load balancing through host groups
* Perform and configure job history and version management
* Implement customization options for Control-M/EM, Control-M/Server, and Control-M/Agent, including setting key system parameters
* Implement Control-M high availability functionality
* Implement agent and client deployment
* Troubleshoot the Control-M environment
* Work with development teams create and implement migration strategies for PayPals workload automation applications
* Develop reporting solutions for analyzing jobs runs and batch environment to assist in validating job executions and keeping proper inventory of which scheduler jobs are being executed in.
* Support triage of real time production incidents as well as root cause analysis of batch jobs that introduce an undesirable affect in the production environment.
* Manage upgrade or migration efforts related to existing jobs.
* Work with Job Scheduling team in development and provide training related to job standards and methods, escalation processes, and diagnostic approaches.
* Work with cross functional teams to develop API and application integration solutions
Requirements:
* BS in Computer Science or equivalent experience
* BMC Control-M
* Minimum 5 years working in a production 24 x 7 environment
* Minimum 3 years developing and supporting job schedules in a critical production environment
* Proficient in job scheduling design, implementation, QA and operational support
* Airflow or Automatic Application Automation Engine administration
* Strong business process, analysis and problem diagnosis background.
* Experience with computing infrastructure technologies, such as networking, UNIX & Windows operating systems and Oracle databases
* Superior problem-solving skills with emphasis on quick problem resolution
* Python, CGI and Unix Scripting experience.
