The Communications Designer, under the direction of the Program Director, Creative Communications, is responsible for designing visual communications materials that promote MD Anderson programs and services, using independent planning and problem-solving skills. The job requires excellent interpersonal skills and high levels of productivity, and the ability to interpret and adhere to visual brand standards.
The ideal candidate will have a mix of digital and print design experience. Must be prepared to share portfolio/samples of work with the hiring department. This position is currently planned to work remotely.
KEY FUNCTIONS
Creative/Visual Design:
* Supports a wide range of design requests for professional digital and print projects from a variety of audiences across the institution.
* Consults with clients, counsels on brand standards and delivers turn-key professional designs that strictly adhere to MD Anderson's visual identity.
* Collaborates with colleaguesvon special projects and initiatives.
Art Direction and Production:
* Works with printing professionals to obtain price quotes, conduct press checks and/or review/approve printer proofs as needed for each project.
* Consults with clients and vendors on promotional items, awards and framing, etc., to communicate our established processes.
* Schedules and art directs photo shoots when necessary.
Brand support and counseling:
* Possesses thorough knowledge of brand policies and standards.
* Provides support and information to internal and external customers to ensure our visual brand guidelines are adhered to on projects.
* Manages brand-specific promotional vendor communications.
* Consults with clients requiring promotional items, awards and framing and communicates our established processes.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor's degree in graphics design or related field.
Experience
Required: Three years of experience in graphic design.
May substitute required degree with additional years of equivalent experience or education on a one to one basis.
