Job Description

Develops the technological infrastructure for the production of machine learning and statistical models that drives customer strategy and discount optimization for the greater Marketing organization. This person will be charged with leading a highly technical team that helps influence marketing decision making across all channels.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

Lead a highly technical team to deliver strategic insights and analytics to key partners

* Develop novel, leading-edge machines learning & AI models that run in our big data environment to infuse predictive analytics into previously unexplored topics that are priorities for marketing
* Helps develop the strategy and agile framework for the development of machine learning and statistical models
* Manage and actively participate in the production of advanced analytics, such as Customer LTV and pricing elasticity that inform marketing, finance, and merchandising decisions
* Produce compelling and actionable communication of analytical results to leadership through visual and textual mediums

Manage large scale cross functional initiatives and partnerships

* Report and make recommendations to key partners on project status, issues and risks
* Execute the strategy and design of technological solutions on behalf of the Marketing organization
* Develop the success criteria for each project and manage the UAT testing framework
* Manage and advocate for the ideation, construction, execution, and management POC projects to demonstrate the ROI of technological advancements
* Manage the implementation of new technologies into the Marketing Tech. Stack
* Build, strengthen, and promote the teams relationships across Marketing, Finance, Merchandising, and IT
* Provide tangible insights and actionable recommendations to each of our partners
* Monitor and continuously improve on the success of the teams guidance to our partners

Management of Associates

* Manage and influence direct reports, systems and projects to achieve unit goals in accordance with Company policies and practices
* Provide leadership by exhibiting influence and expertise, thus affecting the results of the operating area
* Create and promote an effective work environment by developing a common vision, setting clear objectives, expecting teamwork, recognizing outstanding performance and maintaining open communications
* Develop staff through coaching, providing performance feedback, providing effective performance assessments and establishing performance and development plans

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

* Bachelors Degree in Data Science, Applied Mathematics or a related field
* 6+ years of relevant Data Science, Applied Mathematics, and/or IT experience
* Experience leading direct reports and cross functional teams
* Experience working in Agile Development
* Experience coding in general purpose languages, e.g. Java, Python, C++
* Experience developing, testing, and curating statistical and machine learning models
* Experience using traditional RDBMS, e.g. Teradata, MSSQL Server
* Experience using cloud offerings, e.g. Azure, AWS, GCP
* Experience using software version control, e.g. Github
* Experience using any flavor of the Apache Hadoop Framework, e.g. Hortonworks, Cloudera, MapR
* A demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships and achieve results by working collaboratively with others
* Ability to work in a rapidly changing environment while prioritizing and managing multiple tasks
* Strong oral and written communication skills, including experience with data visualization technologies such as Jupyter Notebooks, R Shiny, and Tableau

Kohl's is an American department store retail chain, operated by Kohl's Corporation. With 1,158 locations, it is the largest department store chain in the United States as of February 2013. The company was founded by Polish immigrant Maxwell Kohl, who opened a corner grocery store in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1927. Branching out from its successful grocery store chain, the company opened its first department store in 1962. British American Tobacco Company took a controlling interest in the company in 1972, and in 1979, the Kohl family left the management of the company. A group of investors purchased the company in 1986 from British American Tobacco and took it public in 1992.

The company is headquartered in the Milwaukee suburb of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, operating stores in every U.S. state except Hawaii.  Kohl's became the largest department store chain in the United States in May 2012, surpassing its biggest competitor J. C. Penney. The company is listed on both the S&P 500 (since 1998) and the Fortune 500. In terms of revenue, the chain was the 20th-largest retailer in the United States in 2013. As of 2013, Kohl's was the second-largest U.S. department store company by retail sales.
