What you will do:

As an Electrical Engineering Co-op, you will aid in the new product development process by performing a wide variety of technical work in the planning and design of embedded hardware, electronic circuits, and PCBs which will lead to new or improved products/product lines under marketing, cost, time and regulatory constraints for medical devices that supports our computer assisted and robotic product lines for our Orthopaedic Customer needs.

Primary Roles/Responsibilities:

* Support creation of embedded systems requirements/architecture for new products leading to engineering PCB assembly board-spins/bring-ups and finally to a finished product.
* Through design process, will complete analysis for electromagnetic compliance (EMC), reliability, safety, cost and design for manufacturing/assembly/test.
* Occasionally debug hardware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and other hardware tools
* Working with multiple technologies including voltage regulators, mixed analog/digital circuits, embedded microcontrollers/microprocessors, FPGAs, motor controllers, sensors, and camera-based navigation.
* May coordinate with vendors, engineers and/or other employees to resolve system issues.

What you need:

Minimum Qualifications (Required)

* Pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering degree at Kettering University.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Elementary knowledge of PCB Schematic & Layout process and tools (e.g. PSpice, LTspice, OrCAD, Mentor Graphics, Altium, etc.).
* Experience using electronic hardware lab tools for development of design (e.g. Oscilloscope, Electronic Loads, Function Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Environmental Chambers).
