Position Summary
In this role, a Reliability Engineer primary role revolves around executing test plans/procedures and reporting the results. This may include creating the actual procedure itself as well as conducting an inventory of needed items such as tooling, fixtures...etc.
The role will cover various products in order to ensure they can survive a multitude of environments. Static, Vibration, Environmental, and fatigue testing is typical for many products.
The Reliability Engineer may work in an office environment, as well as in the field. Outside laboratory testing is to be expected. Reliability engineers deal with the testing, prediction, prevention and management of high levels of lifetime engineering uncertainty and risks of failure.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
* Fully comprehend the customer specifications, design and qualification criteria
* Create the necessary test documentations to be presented to customer for approval
* Work closely with the appropriate design and stress engineer on new or existing products to develop the proper test plans.
* Understand and predict failure modes and derive the root cause if necessary
* Identify and report potential failures within a process/procedure
* Knowledge of RTCA DO160 requirements as well as other standard aerospace reliability specs/standards. e.g. MIL STD 810, NASM 1312...etc.
* Design, produce drawings, and track the manufacturing of new systems and fixtures for testing
* Apply critical thinking and sound engineering judgement to solve various problems
* Perform static, fatigue, salt fog, temperature tests, cycling, and data collection
* Work closely with budgets help reduce cost of testing and qualification of products
* Conduct routine engineering calculations
* Liaise with relevant teams on outcomes of tests/analyses
* Conduct analyses such as FMEAs and FRACAS
* Employ rootcause analysis tools to identify problems, determine the corrective action(s) required to address, and followthrough on correcting the issue(s)
* Conduct standard data analysis and processing, after testing
* Additional duties may include developing detailed requirements for production projects related to tooling, machinery, machine layouts, process specifications, gaging, bills of materials, routers/travelers, or supplier support
* Other duties as assigned
Experience & Education
* Bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline from a 4year college or university
* Related experience and/or training in reliability testing environment in a technical role, or equivalent combination of education and experience (includes internships/CoOps)
Required Skills
* Ability to perform all primary duties, and intelligently communicate results internally and to customers
* Experience with MTS & Tinius Olsen test machines
* Ability to work in a fastpaced environment.
* Experience with NI Labview.
* Pneumatics & automation knowledge
* Good writing skills and technical reporting
* Knowledge of RTCA DO160 requirements as well as all aerospace environmental reliability criteria
* Selfstarter and ability to work with minimal supervision
* Attention to details

* Mechanical or Aerospace degree.
* Mechanically inclined with a personal project related to engineering/fabrication.
* Course work/projects related to stress, vibration and fatigue.
* Experience with coding micro controllers and processors.
