You Will Be Responsible For:

* Manages the Comprehensive Emergency Management Plans program for the system, including the management of Hazard Vulnerability Assessments (HVAs) for all applicable areas
* Maintains good relationships with other departments in the hospital and interacts effectively with Emergency Management, Emergency Medical Service (EMS), Fire, and Police community agencies
* Manages and educates an effective plan for all facilities in the arena of disaster response and emergency management
* Manages the regional coordination of at least 2 annual drills at each hospital with one being a mass casualty event and one being an internal event. One of these will also be community-coordinated as per Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (Joint Commission) guidelines.
* Manages the system archiving of data pertaining to drills, critiques, community meetings, and real-world events. Engages with the regional Emergency Management Specialists and their respective campuses for the completion of Corrective Action Plans associated with After Action Reports.
* Chairs the Emergency Management Committee and facilitates its operation.
* Provides input towards the development of the budget.
* Participates and coordinates with community, state, and federal partners/agencies on the management of grant activity.

Qualifications
What You Will Need:

* Bachelors degree from an accredited university. Preference will be given to degrees related to Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management, Healthcare related field, or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience.
* 5 years of experience performing emergency management duties, disaster planning, education, and policy and procedure development.
* Incident Command Center (ICS) 100, 200, 700, 800 from an approved education provider that follows the FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) Guidelines.

Job Summary:

Under the direction of the Manager of Safety / Emergency Management, the Emergency Management Specialist manages the disaster preparedness, emergency response and recovery program at Advent Health -Shawnee Mission, Lenexa, South Overland Park, College Blvd., and various medical office buildings. The Emergency Specialist supervises the Emergency Management Specialist staff charged with the design and implementation of disaster response to incidents involving AdventHealth entities and personnel. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
