As the company's second line of defense, Corporate Risk or Independent Risk Management provides independent oversight of risk-taking activities. Independent Risk Management establishes and maintains Wells Fargo's risk management program and provides oversight, including challenges to and independent assessment of, the frontline's execution of its risk management responsibilities. We manage risk according to the Risk Management Framework and ensure all employees understand their individual accountability for managing risk.

Control Sr. Associate - Issue Management Tollgate & Escalation Governance
The person selected for this role will support Issue Management Response and Closure Tollgates and Escalations initiatives across Corporate Risk in alignment with the expectations of the policies and procedures impacting the Issue Management Tollgate and Escalations team.

Specific responsibilities include:

* Develops and maintains partnerships with the business process owner by consulting and providing expertise in the control design to effectively mitigate risks, including design of effective means of measurement.
* Engages in the development and implementation of new controls, action plans, and root cause analysis
* Supports the evaluation and design of appropriate metrics to inform and monitor the health of the operational risk environment.
* Identifies areas of improvement in existing processes. Identify gaps and recommend improvements.
* Supports a strong risk management culture through the implementation of key risk management programs into the standard operating framework of the business.
* Ensure timely escalation of risk issues following established protocols
* Ability to pro-actively identify risk factors and ensure enactment of appropriate controls
* Experience performing root cause analysis and provide thorough resolution
* Develop and drive initiative reporting related to Tollgate and Issue Management which will be used in various governance activities
* Establish cadence with other Corporate Risk teams to understand connectivity needs and share best practices

Required Qualifications
* 5+ years of experience in risk management or 5+ years of financial services industry experience, of which 3+ years must include direct experience in risk management

Desired Qualifications
* Experience working with the Shared Risk Platform (SHRP)
* Experience with governance and oversight requirements for regulatory and risk reporting
* Process design or improvement experience
* Strong organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills
* Ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment
* Ability to research, trend, and analyze data
* Ability to synthesize data to form a story and align information to contrast or compare to industry perspective and historical business trends
* Knowledge and understanding of issues or change management processes
* Ability to implement a solution and communicate, in clear business terms, the benefits of the proposed risk management approach

Other Desired Qualifications
* Strong interpersonal, influencing, and communications skills with an ability to interact effectively with stakeholders and regulators, to include virtual, matrixed leadership experience and the ability to effectively manage and build relationships.
* Proven leadership and project management skills to drive alignment across stakeholder groups to develop and deliver repeatable end-to-end risk management solutions and controls aligned with groups processes.
* Experience with executive presentations and management reporting (dashboards, PPT, etc.)
* Design a control and ways to measure effectiveness
