Responsibilities

The Milieu Supervisor provides clinical supervision to all Program Specialists and Mental Health Specialists. The Milieu is a liaison to department directors and administration to insure coordinated and efficient operation of services and departments. Responsible for immediate response to all codes and function as lead with de-escalation situations.

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in the job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. The Milieu Supervisor must demonstrate flexibility and the knowledge and skills required to manage units providing care to a varied populations including children, adolescents, pre-adolescents and adults.

Education: Bachelors Degree in Psychology or related field required; Masters Degree in clinical or Counseling Psychology preferred.

Experience: Three years clinical experience with inpatient behavioral health population, previous clinical supervisory role in psychiatric setting preferred.

Licensure/Certification: None

Knowledge: Prefer knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing principles, working concepts and theory, leadership skills, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavioral management..

Supervision Received: Clinical Program Manager

Supervision Exercised: All Program Specialists and Mental Health Specialists

Line of Promotion: Clinical Program Manager

Working Conditions: Exposure to psychiatric patients who may exhibit violent/aggressive behavior. Potential for exposure to communicable diseases, blood/body fluids and other hazardous waste. General hospital environment.

Physical Demands: Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Physical agility to manage patients. Push, pull and lift up to 40 pounds. Intermittent sitting; prolonged standing, walking, bending and stooping.

Job Classification: Non-Exempt; Hours vary based on staffing needs and include day, evening, night and weekend shifts.
