The OneNote team at Microsoft is responsible for OneNote, Sticky Notes, and some other cool future stuff we can't talk about yet. The OneNote Windows and Apple team owns OneNote apps on Windows and Apple platforms. We build fast and fluid native user experiences for each platform while also sharing our core data model across platforms.

Your work will tie into Azure and Office 365 - Microsoft's big, bold bets in the cloud - and will be critical to winning modern cloud-first and mobile-first workloads across Consumer, Education, and Commercial.

This role is a Senior Software Engineer on the OneNote Windows and Apple team.

* Participate in the technical design and implementation of fast and fluid native experiences on OneNote and assure quality for engineering work
* Collaborate with team members to deliver features, and improve engineering systems
* Be highly motivated and demonstrate willingness to learn and to grow within the role
* Invest in others' growth and mentor team members and build highly capable teams
* A passion for deeply understanding customer needs, and bringing customer perspective to daily work

Required:

* 5+ years of Software Engineering experience shipping customer-facing products or online services
* 2+ years experience in C or C++
* A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related disciplines or equivalent experience

Preferred:

* Experience in developing software at scale on Windows
* Solid communication and cross-discipline skills
* Strong problem solving and trouble shooting skills
* Passion for building team culture
* A wide range of technical domain specific expertise such as: User Interfaces, Graphics engines, Network protocols, Multithreading, OS fundamentals, Performance, Security, Telemetry, Multi-language functionality, Automation frameworks
* Experience analyzing and improving application performance and reliability.
* Experience with cross-team collaboration
* Experience with using data to measure impact, effectiveness, and make business decisions
* Experience in one of Objective-C/Swift or other Cross-Platform development experience

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
