Acts as resource for Patient Access personal. Assist employees and arranges for the efficient operation of Registration, PBX, and Scheduling, adjusting staff as needed to maintain department efficiency. This position reports to the Patient Access Supervisor.

Assists the Patient Access Supervisor in the coordination of the daily monitoring of productivity, recognizing potential problems and offering suggestions for improvement. Assist personal with daily activities as needed, insure Customer Service is delivered by all Staff as a priority. Helps in the planning and conducting of staff meetings for Patient Access. Assists Patient Access Supervisor with the selection of new hire. Insure each new Staff member completes departmental orientation including - Codes, Disaster Policies, Dress codes, HMS training etc. and insures employees receive proper training and knows how to use the Language Line. Completes Upfront Cash log accurately and timely and email to staff. Responsible for the balancing of petty cash from shift to shift as assigned by the Patient Access Supervisor or PSFD/PSFM.

Actively involved in the review and revision of policies/procedures as requested. Assists Patient Access Supervisor and PSFD/PSFM with the evaluation process and assists employees in understanding and resolving problems. Ensure employees time and payroll is compete and entered in Kronos accurately and timely. Help with or complete Monthly Employee Work Schedule and post 7 days prior to the beginning of that working month, insuring position responsibilities are being met, and Staffing Schedules are being followed.

Receives/handles patient complaints and Patient Audit requests. Reviews hospital admissions to ensure accurate financial and demographic data have been obtained and accurately entered into hospital system. Reviews/approves adjustments and refunds as assigned. Orders supplies for Patient Access. Responsible for meeting Patient Access Team Goal @ 100%.Responsible for Billing and Collections of Industrial Account/Responsible for overseeing daily deposit is made timely and accurately. Insuring approval is in place and payments are keyed and posted appropriately for Upfront Cash. Responsible for posting all charges and adjustments, including the preparation and posting of Charity, Administrative, Payroll Deductions and Risk adjustments. Insure Patient Access enters all basic Occurrence Codes, Value Codes and Condition Codes, as well as accident information as required at time of Registration. Insure QA process is in place, monitored and reported timely. Obtain appropriate forms for billing of School Insurance, NB Reporting and Sterilization forms as required for billing and scan into the correct HMS folder. Actively participate in maintaining all pricing list for Patient Access. Sort mail and remits with Post/Pre Migration payments and send to BOA lock box. Assist Supervisor with System Logs in HMS and verify they balance at Month End.All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent X Required
Three to five years registration experience, 1 to 2 years in a supervisory position and a working knowledge of all positions within the Department.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
