Global Philanthropy leads much of these efforts through three teams: the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, Impact Finance and Employee Engagement and Volunteerism. The Foundation is currently seeking a Head of Small Business to lead our strategy to close disparities in business ownership and resilience to foster both economic equity and growth. This role reports to the Head of Programs.

Global Philanthropy consists of six regions (three US, three international) and four program teams, including Small Business. Heads of program teams work alongside other program directors, the head of impact finance and regional executives to draw from a high-level theory of change and create actionable, high-impact strategies. The Head of Small Business also leads engagement with key stakeholders and influencers that are critical to informing and advancing our objectives, including strategic partnerships with colleagues across JPMC lines of business in service of JPMorgans Path Forward commitment. Leaders are expected to collaborate with other corporations and foundations, and participate in civic leadership tables that drive economic opportunity agendas. Leaders in this role are also expected to work collaboratively across Corporate Responsibility teams, including the JPMorgan Chase Institute, PolicyCenter, Impact Finance and Government Relations to cultivate internal support and partnerships, respond to business needs, and leverage the firms resources to maximize impact in communities.

Specifically, the Head of Small Business will:

Strategy and Planning

* Collaborate to design and build signature Corporate Responsibility initiatives, with input and support that extends beyond direct reports to include regional leads and experts based in EMEA, APAC, LATAM, and US markets, as well as other partners in Corporate Responsibility and across the firm
* Current examples include Small Business Forward, which includes the Entrepreneurs of Color Fund and Ascend. These and future initiatives seek to improve the underlying systems that often prevent marginalized small businesses from accessing the capital, targeted assistance, and support networks that help them grow, create jobs, and strengthen local communities.
* In partnership with this diverse team of colleagues, monitor the effectiveness of our initiatives, determining what works and doesnt, and lifting up our most-promising solutions for scale and replication.
* Manage a team of direct reports who identify and engage best in class partners, vendors and grantees to execute strategy and implement key projects, as well as partner effectively with an extended team of US and international colleagues to design and implement major initiatives
* Build team culture, coaching individuals to bring out their best while supporting them in navigating a dynamic environment
* Support the conversion of insights garnered through Small Business initiatives to advice and guidance that supports the firms business practices, including business banking, minority depository institutions, procurement strategies
* Facilitate a collaborative annual business planning process that supports a cohesive, dynamic framework that allows for the development of strategies and partnerships with leading corporations, community development financial institutions, social impact companies and nonprofits to advance the small business development field

Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership

* Meet and brief internal (Operating Committee and senior members and Advisory Councils) and external stakeholders to secure buy in and validation of work
* Maintain a commercial mindset with the ability to translate philanthropic and corporate responsibility based efforts to line of business partners (and vice versa) in order to create awareness, collaborate effectively, build consensus, and execute plans. Examples of current projects include executing on the firms Path Forward commitment to grow Black, Latinx, and other underrepresented small businesses.
* Collaborate with international regional leads as they brief country and regional governance committees and key international business leaders
* Develop and maintain a productive network of professional relationships with key government, philanthropic, nonprofit and other community leaders, including those at senior levels.
* Improve awareness and visibility of the firms Small Business activities internally and externally
* Work with the Communications team to develop an external visibility strategy in coordination with colleagues, including but not limited to Government Relations, Community Engagement, Commercial Banking and Chase Consumer and Community Banking
* Position the firm as a thought leader among stakeholders and collaborate with international colleagues to present the firms global presence
* Host and facilitate meetings/forums with grantees and stakeholders, including maintaining a network of professional relationships with key government, philanthropic, not-for-profit and community leaders

Management Responsibilities

* Manage and support a team including Small Business program officer(s), pillar associate(s) and administrative support
* Partner with US and International based market teams, including Regional Executives and Program Officers;
* Manage contributions and expense budgets to ensure that strategy and plans are delivered on time and on budget
* Produce senior-level briefings and ongoing reporting and analysis on key issues to help inform ongoing direction of our resources and investment
* Contribute to a culture of prudent risk management and adhere to the requirements of the firms control environment

Cross-Firm Integration

* Develop and maintain effective relationships with senior JPMC business leaders and colleagues in other parts of Corporate Responsibility
* Think creatively about the firms assets and tools to drive impact including the Policy Center, JPMC Institute and Impact Finance
* Communicate the firms Small Business strategy to multiple internal constituencies; work closely with media relations and other internal partners to maximize coverage of and participation in events
* Communicate Impact: Oversee the development of materials for internal and external use that tell a compelling story of the impact of the portfolio and elevate outstanding grantees

Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree required; Masters degree in a relevant field preferred
* Minimum of 10-15 years of relevant work experience in small business and related fields, including policy, program development and implementation, public-private partnerships, grantmaking and/or impact investing
* Experience in managing a team and a skill set to foster their professional development
* Familiarity, experience and commitment to advancing issues of racial economic equity and inclusive economic growth
* Ability to build consensus across diverse cultures and geographies; experience working in international markets is preferred.
* Passion for the Foundations mission;
* Creative, flexible and collaborative with an ability to work in a team-oriented environment; demonstrates a high degree of initiative; results-oriented, high level of attention to detail and deadlines
* Outstanding written and oral communication skills; personal presence to represent the firm in diverse forums and organizational relationships
* Future domestic and international travel possible as determined to be safe, allowed, and needed
