Description

This position is responsible for providing electrical, controls, instrumentation, and basic mechanical support for food processing equipment at the General Mills James Ford Bell (JFB) Technical Center. This person works effectively and collaboratively across teams to ensure human safety, food safety, and equipment reliability expectations are met. Work will consist mainly of corrective, predictive, and preventative maintenance while providing electrical troubleshooting support for R&D tests and production runs.

Work hours are 1st shift 6am-2pm, Monday - Friday with occasional overtime support during the week and on weekends.

KEY ACOUNTABILITIES

* Troubleshoot and repair process electrical equipment across several pilot plants. Typical equipment includes but is not limited to feeders, pumps, conveyors, dryers, cookers, extruders, ovens, packaging, and lab equipment across several pilot plant spaces.
* Troubleshoot and repair motor control circuits including Variable Frequency Drives and Servo motor controls.
* Troubleshoot and calibrate process control instrumentation, including but not limited to pressure, flow, temperature, humidity, torque, current and voltage elements and transmitters.
* Troubleshoot and program Allen-Bradley Programmable Logic Controllers.
* Understand PID closed loop control and perform loop tuning methods.
* Perform condition monitoring such as infrared thermography, ultrasound, and power monitoring.
* Perform and develop electrical preventative and predictive maintenance procedures.
* Perform mechanical tasks including troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance procedures.
* Utilize Continuous Improvement methods such as root cause analysis and breakdown elimination to improve system performance and reliability.
* Comply with all OSHA required electrical safety training and practices.
* Perform daily safety risk assessments, equipment safety audits, safety observations, and actively promote a safe work environment.
* Collaborate and communicate effectively with all levels of team members including operators, managers, engineers, and R&D personnel across various platforms.
* Engages in strong partnership with customers to drive innovative experiments.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

* Either a two-year trade school certificate in an accredited electrical program or a minimum of two years of related work experience
* State of Minnesota Masters, Journeyman or Maintenance Electrician License preferred
* Must be able to work flexible hours as needed and work occasional overtime including coverage on weekends
* Must be able to lift and manipulate 55 pounds.
* Understand, practice, and promote electrical safety standards including NFPA 70E and NEC
* Must have experience installing and maintaining process electrical components.
* Read and interpret complex electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
* Basic knowledge and experience working with mechanical drive components, fasteners, and lubrication is desired.
* Ability to apply root cause analysis to resolve systemic or reoccurring control issues.
* Ability to handle and adjust to multiple priorities in high activity production environments.
* Ability to coach, train & develop others
* Strong communication skills with peers and with customers
