GDIT TSS is currently seeking a REMOTE Systems Engineer Sr to join our team. (Travel to this area may be required 2 times a year).
In this role, you will provide mainframe technical support for eMedNY and NCMMIS zOS and zVM environments, along with related program products for utilizing zSeries hardware, Multi-LPAR, zOS systems operating in a parallel sysplex 4 way data sharing environment.
Task and responsibilities in this role include, but are not limited to the following:
* Responsible for support, installation, upgrades and maintenance of IBM zSeries mainframes and multiple LPAR images.
* Responsible for Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD).
* Build and distribute configuration documents and diagrams utilizing word, excel, powerpoint and visio programs
* Provide Level 2 & 3 problem analysis & resolution and service request fulfillment for client & GDIT internal environments.
* Participate in service restoration teams, hardware and software upgrades, remote (which could include travel) disaster recovery exercises.
* Have working knowledge of zOS, MVS, JCL and zVM.
* Interface with Z/OS engineers in support of the application and architecture teams.
To qualify, you must meet these basic qualifications:
* BA/BS - 5 plus years of related experience
* This position will involve a high degree of technical complexity and a significant level of Mainframe Architecture interface.
* Technology knowledge of zSeries hardware for large mainframe environments consisting of zSeries mainframe, peripheral devices consisting of IBM DASD and Tape Library equipment and ficon switching.
* zOS - Experience with zOS operating System and related customization parameters related to IODF configurations in a Multi-LPAR, Parallel Sysplex environment.
* zVM - basic knowledge of commands to verify changes in hardware and assist in troubleshooting hardware problems.
* Knowledge of Mainframe Hardware Configuration Definition (HCD) and it's IOCP program.
* HCD -IODF - Primary areas of responsibilities would include working with this program for current use and in client upgrade projects to fit client business requirements, testing and implementation.
* Knowledge of Mainframe Hardware Management Console and Service Element (HMC/SE).
* Knowledge or experience with IBM's Resource Link and Chpid Mapping Tool.
* Knowledge or experience with Mainframe EC/MCL and troubleshooting maintenance methodologies.
* Working knowledge of laptop/desktop functions, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office programs.
Desirable
* Must have strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work others within and outside of Mainframe team for planning purposes and Project support
* Working knowledge of IBM's Trusted Key Entry (TKE) functions with a basic knowledge of EP11 and CCA encryption or willing to learn
* Understand SYSPLEX requirements, Channel signaling and overall Sysplex configurations.
* Knowledge of zOS TCPIP and VTAM
* Skills to lead technical projects and coordinate multiple tasks under time and resource constraints.
The likely salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000, this is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary; rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
