Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Analytical Scientist to join our Measurement Science Team in Global R&D at our Bridgewater, NJ site. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the R&D function. This position will report to the team leader in Measurement Science.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

* Characterization of polymeric materials by Size Exclusion Chromatography (SEC) and viscosity test methods
* Assimilation and interpretation of experimental results to prepare formal reports and to present data internally.
* Assist in the design and execution of new characterization methods of polymeric materials.
* Maintain lab notebooks and logbooks in accordance with company guidelines.
* Comply with company procedural guidelines, laboratory procedures, and safety programs.

In order to be qualified for this role, the desired skills and experiences are:

* Bachelors Degree in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
* 3+ years of analytical experience
* Hands-on experience in SEC or other column chromatography techniques (GC/LC/IC)
* General knowledge of classical and instrumental analytical characterization methods.
* Basic understanding of polymer structures and properties.
* Ability to multitask and adhere to sample turnover times.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
