Job Summary:
In this role you will lead assay development activities at the Mountain View site for the bio-imaging platform, including
* Optimization of the current assay workflow
* Transfer and apply the workflow to targeted cell, organoid, and tissue applications
* Develop the assay and reagents for the commercial platform launch (with the Operations and Instrument teams)
* Evaluate next generation assay workflow candidates
* Supervise the work of assay scientists and technicians (both direct and/or dotted line reports)
* Transfer workflows to Operations to support the sample service and reagent business
* Learn the assay, and be able to assist with its execution, especially during high demand/resource limited periods
* Assist in testing next generation assay instrumentation
Desired Skills and Experience:
* Masters/PhD in molecular biology, chemistry, biochemistry, genomics, or similar field
* 10+ years of industrial experience in successful biological/biomedical product development, including prior management experience is required
* Expertise with cell and tissue culture, histology, immunochemistry, in-situ hybridization, and fluorescence imaging systems is required
* Experience with Next Generation Sequencing techniques and complex data analysis is desired
* Demonstrated ability to understand and successfully work across multiple disciplines such as engineering, software and manufacturing is desired
* Must be detail oriented and highly motivated
* A desire to be a part of a fast paced, multidisciplinary and dynamic environment
This position will report directly to the Director of Assay Development in Mountain View, CA. The position is based in Mountain View, CA and may require some travel.
