The Roles and Responsibilities for the Mechanical Failure Analysis include:

* Responsible for identifying and researching failures down to component level and supporting multiple programs ability to meet schedule, yield, reliability targets.
* Highly cross-functional role, working directly with engineers of various disciplines, program management, quality, manufacturing.
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, articulate conclusions to the team and advocate for appropriate action; includes presenting up to executive leadership and customers.
* Ability to perform well under-pressure for highly visible and urgent issues.

Qualification

Basic Qualifications

A candidate must meet ALL of the below criteria. The candidate must:

* Engineering degree (Bachelor rsquo;s, Master rsquo;s, or PhD) in Mechanical Engineering
* Have 5 years minimum professional work experience (3 with Masters, 0 with PhD) in a related engineering field.
* Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite)
* Ability to perform and lead both failure analyses and Root Cause Corrective Actions (RCCAs)
* Direct technical teams
* Experience with the process/tools/techniques of causal analysis and resolution.
* Ability to prepare samples, collect data, analyze results, and present technical findings to customers
* Experience and affinity for working primarily in a lab environment performing in-depth chemical, physical, or electromechanical failure analysis.
* Proficiency in using failure analysis laboratory equipment including cross-sectioning, X-Ray, SEM/EDS, and optical microscopes.
* Experience with de-processing techniques which include chemical (acid dissolution) and plasma etch.
* Strong understanding of mechanics and materials; ability to understand assembly stack-ups for proper de-construction/de-processing to not destroy evidence for critical failure artifacts.
* Read schematics and layouts and apply failure analysis procedures to identify the failure location, failure mechanism, and the root causes.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Proven expertise with interpreting X-Ray/CT-Scan.
* Experience with electronic test equipment (digital/analog) such as curve tracers, logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, and test systems to do board failure analysis and debugging.
* Experience working with BGA, and flip chip packages is a plus
