Northrop Grumman Armament Systems Division based in Mesa, Arizona produces automatic medium caliber gun systems. Our gun systems built for the United States and international allied militaries have been used in all major conflicts since World War II in a variety of applications to include small and large ground vehicles, helicopters, airplanes, and naval ships.

Northrop Grumman is looking for a Principal Manufacturing Engineer to join our talented guns engineering team for the Guns Operating Unit at our Mesa, AZ site. Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager of the Guns Operating Unit, you will be supporting a cross functional organization.

Position Summary:

* Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining and material handling
* Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance
* Adapts machine or equipment design to factory and production conditions
* May incorporate inspection and test requirements into the production plan
* Inspects performance of machinery, equipment, and tools to verify their efficiency, and investigates and initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality
* Develops manufacturing processes that are applicable to statistical process control, and may develop those techniques
* Provides guidance to design engineering regarding concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques
* Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations
* Tooling and fixture design to support the assembly and fabrication teams
* Author, revise, and maintain manufacturing bills of materials to high accuracy requirements

Qualification

Qualifications:

* Bachelor 39;s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or related Engineering field with at least five (5) years of manufacturing experience
* Experience reviewing, interpreting, and creating 3d models and manufacturing drawings, preferably NX and SolidWorks
* Advanced proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Systems, preferably Costpoint
* Ability to interface/communicate with multiple levels of personnel, leadership, clients and vendors
* Extensive experience with creating bills of material, routings, and work orders
* Ability to provide results that are innovative, thorough, practical and consistent with organizational objectives
* Ability to provide a hands-on approach to technical issues and act as the technical representative for the Manufacturing organization

This position falls under a Federal Explosives License issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives
(ATF) for this location. Candidates hired into this role will be required to complete and submit an Employee Possessor Questionnaire to ATF for approval to be a possessor.
