JOB SUMMARY: The primary function of this position is to manage the day to day activities of a market segment support team(s) which ensures customer pricing and profitability are in alignment with Airgas's overall strategic direction by recommending appropriate actions to increase overall profitability. This includes but is not limited to, annual price increases, profitability improvement, brand strategy, ad-hoc segment reporting, and market review and intelligence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

The primary function of this position is to manage the day to day activities of a market segment support team which ensures customer pricing and profitability are in alignment with Airgas's overall strategic direction by recommending appropriate actions to increase overall profitability. This includes but is not limited to, annual price increases, profitability improvement, brand strategy, ad-hoc segment reporting, and market review and intelligence.

* Manage market segment support team(s) gaining an understanding of the market segment you would manage including but not limited to Customer:

* Contract terms and conditions

* Profitability

* Lost Rent Revenue Report

* Market Basket Rationalization

* Cost to Serve

* Compliance to terms of ECR/contract

* Price agreements/price structures & conditions

* National and Regional view

* Issues

* Act as a backup to the Sr. Manager - dotted line responsibility to other associates under Sr. Manager

* With guidance from the Sr. Manager:

* Assist Sales Leaders with developing contract term and condition recommendations that are consistent with Strategic Account profitability/ margin targets

* Help develop, maintain, and promote consistent price strategies, tools, and analytics that are aligned with Strategic Account pricing and profitability goals

* Evaluate current strategic account customers supported by the strategic account service model for profitability based on sales volume and sales opportunity versus the administrative cost to serve. Evaluation should include determining if migration from the SA service model to the Division service model for the administrative take place

* Work closely with other associates/departments to ensure alignment on customer requirements and areas of opportunities to increase customer profitability. This includes but is not limited to:

* Market Segment Leaders

* National and Strategic Account Managers

* Financial Planning & Accounting (FPA)

* Germantown SA Customer Service - Allentown Key Account Desk - Total Access

* Data Integrity

* Distribution & Logistics

* Purchasing

* Divisional and Regional organizations - AR/AP

* Aide in the development of Strategic Account Business Management policies, procedures, reports and metrics that create consistent and timely work flows and recommendations. Other areas of assistance related to policy and procedure development include pricing decisions, approvals, and internal and external notifications.

* Manage the development and training of direct reports in order to support and foster:

* Promotion opportunities

* Backup strategies for each position

* Cross functional training

* Positive attitudes that promote a healthy, constructive and team oriented work environment

* Individual and Team Performance

* Proactively and consistently identify least profitable customers and work closely with the Sales Leader to recommend solutions/action plans to increase overall customer profitability. Track, measure and report increases of profitability

* Guide Sales Leaders to follow the established strategic processes and procedures

* Willing and able to reach out to customers on behalf of Sales Leaders

* Ability to analyze data effectively and provide a high level overview as necessary

Required Education:

* College degree or combination of equivalent education and experience required

Required Length & Type of Experience:

* Minimum three years in the gas, safety or hardgoods product industry - preferably all three

* Proven track record of adaptability to fast changing environment

* Past record of strong communication skills to all levels within an organization

* Self-motivated individual with strong background in solution resolution process and customer service

* Experience serving on cross-organization teams; working effectively with those teams to achieve desired results

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

* Knowledgeable of the gas, hardgoods and safety commodities industry including, not limited to product offerings, current industry trends, best practices, competitor strengths and weaknesses, and market conditions and opportunities

* Able to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures

* Able to write reports and business correspondence

* Proven interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work successfully in a team atmosphere

* Excellent computer software skills in SAP, Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word and Power Point

* Effectively present information, provides training, and responds to questions from groups in a business setting

* Past record of identifying a goal, developing a plan to execute against the goal, and implementing the plan

* Proven record of consistently meeting and exceeding goals and expectations

* Intermediate to advanced skills using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point G Suite experience highly desirable (Google Applications) to include; Sheets, Docs, Forms, Slides
