The purpose of this role is to act as project director and ensure the proper concept, design and development of more complex major projects, and coordinate and plan engineering program budgets and operations. The main projects associated with this role deliver software and electronic solutions for the Green Harvesting Platforms. This position will be responsible for Green Harvesting electronic platform development at Hesston, KS; Feucht, Waldstetten and Wolfenbttel, Germany.
This position is one of several professional staff engineers reporting to the Director of Engineering-EFG and with matrix reporting to the Director of Engineering- Green Harvesting. The Engineering Manager is the director of a design team that conceives and provides practical and improved product designs for the most complex major projects. Emphasis of this position is directing major complex projects to successful completion as well as directing the engineering activities to resolve current product issues and cost reductions. This position has the opportunity to direct major engineering projects from concept to production, with active communication with other functions within the organization. The incumbent has the opportunity to travel to other AGCO sites.
The Engineering Manager will also assist the Director of Engineering-Green Harvesting in the budgeting and reporting process and will take an active role in preparing and presenting projects and progress throughout the Global Green Harvesting Group.
Job Function and Responsibilities
* Directs the work effort to develop the concept and design of new and improved features for Harvesting Products.
* Provides general project design parameters and contributes to original and practical designs.
* Aligns backlog priorities with functions in the organization including Product Management, Manufacturing, Marketing, Quality, Commodity Management, and Technical Service.
* Provides solutions to engineering projects for complex technical problems and furnishes technical counsel to other engineering departments.
* Oversees and ensures good communication of project progress with affected areas.
* Coordinates with external vendors and contractors to drive project completion to schedule and budget
* Contributes to the success of engineering programs by acting as the electronics program planner.
* Identifies unique platform needs and contributes to the development of global electronic architectures
* Analyzes project complexity, size, urgency, etc., and determines levels and numbers of Engineers and other staff requirements.
* Remains abreast of changes and advances in technology of engineering related subjects and disciplines.
* Initiates close communications with plant and suppliers to ensure the most advanced methods and innovations are being used to maintain a competitive edge.
* Proposes new approaches, concepts or products as alternatives to existing methods.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Education
* Requires an engineering degree (an advanced degree is desirable) or equivalent experience
Qualifications and Experience
* 7 10 years in progressive engineering assignments to gain an extensive understanding of complex engineering concepts and applications.
* This position requires a self-starting person. This position also requires leadership ability and good skills in people management, and driving objectives.
* Knowledge of Agriculture Machinery and Agriculture Business is highly preferred.
