The Machinist Trainee - 3rd Shift will train to operate CNC machines (lathes, mills, grinders). Primary responsibilities will be to set up machines, check products and keep production items running through machine areas with quantity and quality acceptable to the Zimmer Biomet Standard. May also perform additional responsibilities which include, but are not limited to, non-destructive testing, cell support, mass finishing, injecting molding and polishing.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Receive individual training and mentorship on operations of CNC equipment.
* Set up machines, lathes, mills, grinders or other machining centers for the production of products, as well as training on regulatory requirement and current documentation practices.
* Participate in ongoing process improvements.
* Inspect parts to required specifications utilizing various precision measuring devices.
* Record production through DPI terminal and maintain count cards.
* May perform additional cell responsibilities as required.
Expected Areas of Competence
* Aptitude to develop skill sets necessary to operate CNC machine.
* Basic skills in shop math.
* Working knowledge of precision measuring equipment including mics, calipers, comparators and indicators.
* Ability to lift 60 pounds repeatedly.
* Ability to work in team/cellular environment.
Education/Experience Requirements
* Diploma in machining, industrial mechanic trade or machining training certificate is required. This is an entry level position with a desirable experience in metal cutting trade. Or High School diploma plus a minimum of one (1) year of experience in a similar position is a must.
