Position Summary

The compensation manager plans, develops and implements new and revised compensation programs, policies and procedures to align with the company's goals and competitive practices. This position is also responsible for ensuring that company compensation programs are consistently administered in compliance with internal policies and government regulations.

Responsibilities

Management of Compensation Practices, Policies and Procedures

* Manages the development, implementation and administration of compensation programs.
* Monitors the effectiveness of existing compensation practices and recommends changes that are cost-effective and consistent with compensation trends and corporate objectives.
* Provides advice to HR Business Partners on pay decisions, policy interpretations, and job evaluations.
* Designs creative solutions to specific compensation-related programs and incentive plans.
* Develops techniques for compiling, preparing and presenting data.
* Oversees the participation in salary surveys and monitors salary survey data to ensure corporate compensation objectives are achieved.
* Ensures compliance with federal, state and local compensation laws and regulations.
* Manage bonus program administration for District Leader employee population
* Coordinate communications and timeline between Corporate Compensation, Division Compensation and field for District Leader bonus payouts
* Manage and continuously improve process of manual District Leadership bonus and recognition programs
* Ensure District Leaders understand how they are compensated by creating, maintaining and delivering education in appropriate format and frequency

Project & resource management:

* Provide project management expertise for large scale compensation projects that are Group-wide, including project objective, key stakeholders, resource allocation, timeline and major milestones and tasks, as well as prioritization of project in relation to others.
* Analyze compensation policies, government regulations, and prevailing wage rates to develop competitive compensation plan.
* Manage process for Gate Rates, minimum wage reviews, and coordinate with TAG Compensation Analyst, Division HR and Finance leaders, and HRSS on process, cost, changes and timeline
* Proactively troubleshoots potential issues and recommend solutions
* Serve as a representative &/or lead on committees and project teams
* Participate/lead cross-Divisional teams to successfully design and implement large scale initiatives
* Meet with senior staff, managers of other departments, and the financial leaders of TAG to recommend compensation policies, programs, and plans.
* Encourage and build mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among project team members
* Oversee partnership between compensation, HRSS, Kronos and payroll support teams

Special Projects as needed, such as:

* Monitor trends affecting pay and assess ways for TAG to improve practices or policies
* System upgrades
* Process improvements
* Develop and evolve an organizations pay scale and structure as needed
* Document TAG compensation practices and share and train team members on extensive knowledge of department processes
* Work with TAG and Division leadership, as well as AHRMS and managers to help develop promotion and retention strategies for existing employees
* Assist leaders in writing detailed employee job descriptions to help determine their pay level
* Administer, direct, and review employee compensation programs, including the integration of compensation programs following mergers and acquisitions.
* Prepare and distribute written and verbal information to inform HR leaders and employees of compensation policies.
* Conduct new-employee orientations to foster positive attitude toward TAG compensation objectives.
* Other as needed

Position Requirements

Education

Required:

* Four-year bachelor's degree with a major in a related field, such as economics, accounting, or human resources.

Preferred:

* Masters Degree
* Certified Compensation Professional program from WorldatWork and/or the Certified Compensation and Benefits Manager program from the Human Resource Management Institute.

Experience

Required:

* Six years of progressively responsible experience in employee compensation
* At least one year of experience managing direct reports.
* General knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, training, compensation and benefits, and personnel information systems.
* General knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, and coordination of people and resources.
* General knowledge of principles and processes for providing internal customer and personal services. This includes internal customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of internal customer satisfaction.
* Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, basic statistics, and their applications.
* General knowledge of laws, government regulations, and executive orders regarding compensation

Preferred:

* Experience in the retail industry
* Experience in other HR areas including but not limited to generalist/HRBP, recruiting, training, benefits, etc.
* Experience in finance related field, including but not limited to audit, financial reporting, pricing, etc.
* Three or more years managing others

Requirements

Required:

* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent time management skills and ability to plan and set priorities.
* Advanced analytical skillset
* Ability to create and present compensation related presentation content across wide range of audiences
* Advanced Project management skillset
* Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with senior management.

Preferred:

* Experience working with Oracle HR Cloud
* Experience working with Varicent incentive system
