The Lead Technology Architect can be assigned to the areas of Enterprise Architecture, Integration Architecture and/or Solutions Architecture.
The Lead level is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization and works independently, under minimal guidance from supervisor. Progression to Lead level is limited on the basis of business requirement.
Enterprise Architecture:
Assesses wider industry technology trends (e.g., artificial intelligence, robot process automation, internet of things) and best practices to identify best-in-class IT and architecture direction, and is responsible for the establishment, development and promotion of standard architectures / frameworks for a specific architectural discipline (e.g., business, data, application, infrastructure, security, platform, web, user interface (UI), etc.). Additional responsibilities include:
* Contribution towards the improvement of the Enterprise Architecture (EA) process;
* Architectural technology standards within their specific discipline;
* Governance of architecture standards;
* Technology strategy;
Drives the development of the enterprise architecture process and should keep abreast of the latest technologies and technological opportunities in his/her knowledge area. Must understand business needs and apply smart technology strategy for competitive advantage.
Integration Architecture:
Creates the technical vision and provide thought leadership for all integration technologies. Develops, creates awareness for, and monitors adherence to integration standards and will utilize these standards to design solutions that meet operational requirements, such as scalability, maintainability, security, reliability, extensibility, flexibility, availability, and manageability.
Requires a deep understanding of integration technologies and practices as well as the business acumen to develop overarching system designs. Works with various IT teams to champion the adoption of patterns, platforms, and tools to support the usage and conformity of the integration architecture.
Solutions Architecture:
Assesses wider industry technology trends (e.g., artificial intelligence, robot process automation, internet of things) and best practices to identify best-in-class IT and architecture direction and is responsible for high level architectural design as well as playing a crucial role in identifying new technologies that could affect overall business strategy. Additional responsibilities include:
* Contribution towards the improvement of the Architecture process;
* Architectural technology standards within their specific discipline;
* Governance of architecture standards;
* Technology strategy;
Works with various IT teams to champion the adoption of patterns, platforms, and tools to support the usage and conformity of solution architecture.
Primary Responsibilities
Leads projects, analyzes and solves complex problems, and recommends solutions in the below areas.
Technology Domain:
* Understand and evaluate the technology trends and the changing business/competitor landscape and prepare the organization to be disruptive
* Facilitate rapid solutioning through a broad knowledge of available services to define end-to-end architecture to promote a clear and consistent business vision
* Work with supporting teams to devise and validate viable solutions
* Develop and maintain architectural assets including principles, standards, policies, reference architectures, models, blueprints, roadmaps, frameworks, patterns and services
* Collaborate with Technology Translators and Integrators as necessary in proof of concept demonstrations and help scale up proven solutions to meet business needs
Functional Domain:
* Work with peers in the business to collaborate on innovative technology initiatives that create business value either through growth opportunities or operational improvements
* Collaborate with and serve as a consultant to key business stakeholders and project teams on proposed and alternative architectures to implement efficient and cost-effective solutions
* Research, identify, and document new / existing technologies, business models, processes and industry trends
* Provide architectural leadership and expertise in the creation of technical solutions to address business needs
* Ensure common architecture decisions are implemented consistently across business and IT to support the business and IT strategies
* May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.
Candidate Qualifications
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration.

Basic Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related work experience OR 10 years of related work experience
2. Excitement, curiosity, and passion for shaping the future through digital technology
3. Strong knowledge of advanced technology architecture and emerging trends
4. Familiar with the latest technologies, trends, standards, products, and applicability
5. Ability to develop & articulate technology innovation roadmap and vision
6. Ability to effectively adapt to rapid technological and business change while maintaining enthusiasm and displaying sound judgment
Additional Requirements
The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.
