Job Description

PPG Aerospace is seeking an Automation Engineer! As an Automation Engineer, you will be responsible for safely and effectively managing process and product optimization and material development to ensure that Aircraft Products manufacturing performance improvement objectives are met or exceeded and customer requirements are satisfied.

Key Responsibilities:

* Manages automation projects and new projects including budget for the project, acquiring approvals for capital funds, managing the project schedule, and working with contractors/vendors/installation/and start up.
* Supports all current automation technologies at the site.
* Supports strategic planning of the facility for equipment capacity, technology, and production.
* Will have priorities including reduction of total cost, setup time, lot size reduction, variation reduction and an overall improvement in process capability and consistency.
* Leads the effort ensuring processing technology and capability is developing at the rate required to support the transformation to flow production.
* Improves the products, processes and technological capability within multiple work cells and is also jointly responsible for overall plant manufacturing performance.
* Will effectively connect with other functions throughout the organization to successfully achieve objectives in Safety, Quality, Cost, and Service to our Customers.
* Support and be knowledgeable in the Lean Enterprise & Sigma Logic process.
* Must demonstrate technical leadership abilities.

Qualifications:

* The position requires a Bachelors Degree in an engineering or scientific field or comparable education.
* Minimum 5 years of experience within a manufacturing engineering or an equivalent environment.
* Industrial robot programming experience is preferred (FANUC).
* Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs preferred.
* Previous experience managing capital projects strongly preferred.
* Ability to collaborate and connect with all levels within the organization as well as external business partners.
