Job Description

PPG Aerospace in Sylmar, CA is seeking a Thin Films Process Engineer. This is a phenomenal opportunity to join an industry leading company in aerospace technologies! As a Thin Films Process Engineer, you will drive process improvements for new and existing thin film programs.

Key Responsibilities

* Developing, improving, and sustaining thin film processes in transparencies.
* Leading a team of subject matter experts to support continuous improvement efforts in our metallic thin films and organic coating applications
* Conducting data analysis, failure analysis, and yield improvement.
* Maintaining or defining process SOPs, providing instructions to coating operations.
* Creation of Standard and/or Visual Work Instructions.
* Maintaining or defining quality management standard including creating and reviewing SPC charts for robust quality control.
* Supporting equipment automation technicians in tool trouble shooting.
* Providing technical support to operations and customer as needed
* Manages complex projects to achieve business strategies.
* Provide technical support with new project design, troubleshoot production problems, debug production metalizing.
* Creation of technical reports, standard work instructions, process specifications.

Qualifications:

* The successful candidate must possess a Bachelors degree (B. S.) in Engineering, Physics, chemistry or related technical discipline required.
* 5 years of engineering experience in areas of vacuum deposition, working thin films, conducting statistical analysis, and process control strongly desired.
* Ability to read drawings.
* Ability to analyze data, launch and sustain SPCs, perform six sigma process capability (Minitab a plus).
* Ability to lead team projects passionate about meeting business strategic goals.
* Thin-film interference or heating coatings or related Optical Materials knowledge a plus.
* Statistical Analysis, Research and Development techniques experience are desired.
* Experience with organic coatings a plus.
* Some knowledge of photolithography extremely desirable.
* Proven supervisory skills
* Green Belt or Black Belt Six sigma certifications desirable.
* Must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident.
