Primary Objective:

Operate a variety of equipment, power tools, hand tools, and perform manual functions to maintain facility equipment and buildings.

Major Functions and Scope:

* Complies with all company safety rules and procedures.
* Assists with repair or replacement of mechanical equipment using hand tools and power tools, and reassembly of equipment.
* Assists other departments with routine preventative maintenance tasks to ensure that machines continue to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, and with maintenance of physical building condition.
* Assists with maintenance of HVAC equipment, boiler, compressed air systems, dust collection systems, and fire protection systems.
* Assists with maintenance and visual inspection of facility grounds and structures to ensure they are orderly and free of debris, and reports issues to manager.
* Follows direction or uses experience to fix or repair machinery breakdowns.
* Collaborates with other workers in the repair or removal of machines, machine parts, or equipment.
* Inspects, tests, diagnoses equipment mechanical problems and determines how to correct problem by checking prints, manuals, or parts catalogs if needed.
* Uses hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials and manipulating things.
* Assists with cleaning of grounds, facility equipment, site structures, tour routes, picking up trash, straightening up stored parts and equipment, reports issues to manager.
* Performs simple troubleshooting of electrical problems with single phase and 3 phase motors and wiring.
* Performs other tasks as assigned by management.

Knowledge, Experience and Competencies:

* High School Diploma or equivalent experience
* Machine shop and welding experience or accredited welding training
* Basic understanding of electrical circuits, pneumatics, and hydraulics
* Knowledge of computers and experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
* 3 to 5 years experience in maintenance of a manufacturing environment preferably in the wood working or paper making industry.
* Comfortable operating and controlling equipment and systems for troubleshooting purposes
* Ability to read and comprehend drawings or sketches
* Above average math skills
* Ability to communicate across all levels of the organization
* Ability to work independently and possess strong organizational skills

Other Pertinent Job Information:

* Ability to work primarily on day shift and be available for callback or weekend coverage.

Pay Rate: $22.22/ hr
