The neuro ICU is a 22 bed adult inpatient unit specializing in caring for critically ill patients who have a variety of neurological diagnoses including stroke, brain hemorrhage, brain or back surgery, heal trauma or spinal cord injury. Our unit-based research efforts are among the best in the world and have afforded us the ability to provide patients with bedside CT scans. Patients may require life support systems, including mechanical ventilation for unstable respiratory status and/or medication via continuous infusion to maintain cardiovascular status. As Neuroscience Nursing continues to expand, it is becoming one of the major admitting services at many academic medical centers. This creates the need for more and more highly skilled, knowledgeable nurses to specialize in Neuroscience Nursing. BSN is required. Current licensure in Massachusetts as a registered nurse is required. Neuro and critical care experience are preferred, but candidates with experience in general acute care and demonstrating a strong interest in the neuroscience specialty will also be considered. This position requires you to work a day/night rotation shift. Ideal candidate has 2 years recent acute care RN experience, new grad RN%27s will not be considered.
