Reviews patient history and physician's orders. Educates patient regarding procedures, equipment and exam to ensure patient's understanding and cooperation.
When ordered, prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within scope of practice. Monitors patient condition continually and reports/responds to changes in status as appropriate.
Prepares equipment and supplies. Selects appropriate exposure factors and imaging parameters. Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures on equipment. Troubleshoots, resolves, and/or reports equipment malfunctions as necessary.

Positions patient and performs imaging procedure(s). Analyzes results and identifies issues with the quality of imaging results. Takes appropriate action to resolve image quality issues, including repositioning patient and repeating procedure. Enters, transmits and reports scan results.
For Stress Lab Tech:
Required Licensure: Registered ARRT Radiologic Technologist - RT(R)
AND/OR
NMTCB or Registered ARRT Nuclear Medicine - RT(N)
Essential Functions:
Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate.
Prepares preliminary paperwork for final interpretation by the cardiologist.
Performs exercise, pharmaceutical, and echo stress tests.
Recognizes chest pain, arrhythmias with stress testing.Responds/obtains appropriate and immediate assistance as needed.
Monitors, receives, and stocks stress lab supplies.
Disassembles, cleans, and sterilizes equipment as needed.
Troubleshoots minor problems, makes adjustments as needed during the procedure and prepares recordings for interpretation.
Collects and/or reviews pertinent medical, historical, and medication information in order to perform the appropriate study prescribed by the physician.
Assists with computerized charting, MUSE, and Paragon.
Assists with activities to improve department processes, facilitate testing, and maintain quality to achieve optimal patient results.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
Graduate of an approved course in Radiologic Technology.
Minimum Work Experience
Hospital training during two years of approved Radiologic Technologist program.
Experience in other x-ray departments, clinics or medical offices highly desirable.
Required Skills
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
Certifications:
AHA Basic Life Support (BLS)
Required Licenses
Radiologic Technologists and Technicians
Must be ARRT registered or registry eligible.
Required to be an active member of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
Desirable to belong to national, state, and/or local societies.
