A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!
* As one of the senior leaders in Generations Asset Management and Generation Strategy (AMGS) department, you will lead a team of up to 7 professionals focused on maintaining and improving the commercial asset management program for SCE owned generating facilities. Generations commercial asset management program consists of two main functions - portfolio value optimization and optimal participation in the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) market. The position will work closely with the other AMGS leaders to maintain the Asset Management System of SCE Generation. This position will also act as thought leader ensuring the entire organization understands the products, services, and reliability impacts of the Generation fleet.
* Manages projects which improve asset utilization and related economic value for SCE customers. Manage the functioning and continuous improvement of the end-to-end portfolio and asset optimization process.
* End-to-end water management optimization for all of hydro generation units including managing year ahead, seasonal, and short-term planning activities. Provide strategic direction to operation departments and manage hydro modeling and optimization functions for their optimal market participation and dispatch.
* Identify, evaluate, and develop proposals for special projects or investment opportunities that maximize the value of generation portfolio in CAISO markets. Liaise between operations and market facing/ analysis teams to identify portfolio operational needs and to provide forecasted market values of energy, capacity, and A/S to inform operational decision-making.
* Manages resources and budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs.
Qualifications
The essentials
* Bachelors degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Business or related technical field.
* Five years of experience with asset management, resource optimization, energy markets and/or generation asset CAISO market planning based work.
* Five years of experience managing, supervising, or leading an organization, unit, or project team.
The preferred
* Masters degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Business.
* Extensive knowledge of Hydro/fossil Generation.
* In-depth understanding of the operating rules and regulatory requirements of California energy markets, including knowledge of CAISO, CPUC and FERC.

* Able to drive, fly, traverse on uneven surfaces (hiking), sit/stand and work in various weather conditions, for extended periods of time.
* Travel 20% travel required across SCE Generation territory including Big Creek, Bishop.
* Overnight stay required.
