Job Description
CDM Smith currently has a new opportunity for an experienced seller-doer business development-oriented Sr. Project Manager to join our Transportation group in central Florida. This position can be based in either Orlando or Tampa. CDM Smith has been providing transportation services in Florida for over 50 years. We are looking to expand our focus and market share in roadway design with the FDOT and new municipal clients.
As a member of this team, you would contribute to CDM Smith's mission by:
-Managing and serving as the lead Project Manager on major FL roadway design projects in the Orlando, Tampa, SW Florida, and central Florida areas, potentially including all design aspects, including roadway, bridge, traffic, drainage, stormwater management, bicycle/pedestrian, and transit/BRT design
-Managing client relationships with FDOT District 1, 5, and 7, as well as municipal clients
-Arranging, facilitating and preparing for meetings with FDOT
-Building and managing relationships with key FDOT leaders
-Leading the preparation of PS&E; package for major roadway design projects in Florida
-Assisting in budget, scope and schedule development
-Working as a key team member and task manager in FL
-Mentoring junior design staff.
-Actively participating or assisting in new business development by contributing to strategic planning, marketing, and business operations planning.
Minimum Qualifications
Skills and Abilities
Experience working with project management methodology including budget development, project planning, control and assurance methodologies, project management software and finance and accounting concepts and practices. Demonstrates excellent communication skills both verbal and written. Possesses in-depth knowledge of project goals, drivers, strategies, risks and opportunities. Good interpersonal and presentation skills for interacting with team members and clients. Ability to interact with many people and process a large volume of requests as necessary. Excellent personal computer skills including strong knowledge in MS Word and Excel. Demonstrates strong organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
-Bachelor's Degree
-10 years of related experience
-Current PM certification (either PMP; CCM and DBIA) or ability to receive within 12 months of start
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
-Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
-FDOT roadway design experience
-FDOT project management experience
-Experience with drainage design preferred
-Experience with transit/bus rapid transit design preferred
-Professional Engineering License (PE) in Florida
