Job Description Summary
The Associate Director leads, directs, and provides leadership for all Regional EO Sterilization Plants located in Covington and Madison, GA. Is also accountable for all Covington Operations activities that support the Division Headquarters of Bard Medical Division, Corporate Quality Shared Service and R&D; Labs, and Post Sterile Non-Finished Goods Operations.
Job Description
* Responsible for BDI UCC regional sterilization operation which sterilizes UCC and other division BD corporations products using 100% ethylene oxide sterilization technology.
* Responsible for the Covington and Madison Operations which consists of Engineering, Kit Assembly, Manufacturing, and Inbound Distribution.
* Ensures all products released to the Global Distribution Center meet all corporate supply chain goals and objectives. Collaborates with Division Supply Chain Directors to ensure alignment on flow time and back order prioritization goals through Covington Operations and Sterilization.
* Develops and executes the documented three year physical footprint and functional strategy for the Covington and Madison operations. Sets up the business case justification and implements cross-functional projects focused on the improvement of the operation.
* Accountable for the whole Covington operation annual cost budgeting process, including UCC 3rd Party supply. Communicates operational results, budget cost variances, capital expenditure, and operational issues to executive management.
* Drives operational performance to meet safety, quality, delivery, employee turnover and financial objectives. Develops resource plans, allocates budgets and capital for multiple cost centers and departments. Ensures proper staffing, equipment, and support necessary for driving cost and cash efficiencies throughout the operation. Collaborates with other functional senior leaders internal and external to the plant.
* Champions the deployment of Corporate BD programs that support the BD strategy. Ensures adherence to BD program goals including scope, execution deadlines, and reporting mechanisms. Communicates the benefits of the program (inspiring reason why), trains the team and assigns responsibilities.
* Responsible for the organizational health of the operation. Develops a positive working environment where associates are highly engaged and empowered. Promotes talent growth, teamwork, diversity and inclusion.
* Talent development: Talent agenda that addresses the normal curve of talent (replacing laggards, promoting the top performers, and providing a sustainable growth path for those in the middle). Succession planning with aligned list of names ready to take over the position within the next 1-3 positions.
* Supervises the EHS Program Leader who is Responsible for Establishing Covingtons EHS Management system and its successful implementation.
* Partners with supporting functions to include Quality Assurance, Human Resources, and Finance to ensure execution, compliance, and proper reporting.
* Ensures operational support is provided for all BMD NPD project teams to ensure successful project completion. Also monitors and reports the status of CIP projects to executive management and helps facilitate projects at the Division as needed to ensure on time delivery and committed savings are met.
* Ensures compliance with all applicable EHS, Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices, ISO, and CE marking requirements.
* Ensures compliance with all applicable State and Federal EPD, USEPA regulation and permit requirements as related to Ethylene Oxide sterilization processing.
* Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
* BS Degree in engineering or science field required.
* Experience leading Ethylene Oxide Sterilization Plants is required.
* Chemical Engineering experience dealing with Dangerous Goods preferred.
* 8 - 12 years of experience in Operations or Engineering leadership roles in a FDA Regulated Industry.
* Experience in operations finance and/or handling a P/L.
* PMP, CQE and/or Six Sigma Black Belt Certifications preferred.
* Specialist understanding of Logistics Flows.
