Overview: Applied Materials is looking for an expert in software development, with 10+ years of relevant software design and development experience, to join a new team working on the edge node of a sensor and machine-learning platform that drives optimal results for our customers. This platform runs on a mix of Windows and Linux, with software written in Python, C and React-JS, so expertise in all of these is important. This is a key role in a growing new team which will provide technical leadership to the entire team, working closely with the Senior Manager responsible for the team.

Key Responsibilities
* Technically leads and/or executes significantly complex software projects.
* Will drive the high-level design and manage the software code base.
* Interfaces with various external customers or vendors regarding software issues for the business unit.
* Interfaces with various internal customers regarding requirements analysis and specifications.
* Troubleshoots a wide range of significantly complex software problems.
* Performs software tests on code and enhancements.
* Defines software specifications, and designs software products.
* Contributes to technical review boards for assigned programs.
* Develops software documentation.
Functional Knowledge
* Must be a technical expert in the required software technologies.
* Must demonstrate in-depth or breadth of expertise in the area and broad knowledge of other areas.
* Must have 10+ years of experience in software development.
* Must be able to write effective architecture and design documents.
* Must have 5+ years of experience in both Python and C.
* Must be an expert in both Windows and Linux.
* Must be an expert in CI/CD and containerization of software.
* Must have experience with Python data/machine-learning libraries.
