Job Description

Responsibilities include: 

Automate self healing, self optimization, auto scaling, compute on demand
Ensure processes are all well monitored, instrumented, and logged 
User of CI/CD pipelines for  build/test/deploy, and systems/application monitoring/logging such as Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, Chef, SALT, Puppet, ELK, AppDynamics etc.
Infrastructure as Code (IaC) as a standard, documented practice
Operate applications that are microservices based architectures, container technologies, container management systems such as Kubernetes, Mesos etc

Guide developers when they are stuck with technical issues
Establish time trackers and keep all stakeholders updated
Participates in development of annual budgets including meeting deadlines and utilizing company resources effectively
Initiates organizational change and process improvement for effective and efficient team operations
Builds a team of infrastructure support engineers, Site reliability engineers,

Manages and develops cross functional relationships and strategies to support organizational goals and objectives:

Oversees hiring, training and recruiting needs. Manages the employee performance appraisal process
Work with Engineering Director(s) and Technical Program Managers to create and execute on a roadmap for your team
Coaches junior managers and individual contributors and provides developmental opportunities; providing opportunities for growth and purpose

Provides accurate and clear communication in both written and verbal forms. Delegates effectively and shares knowledge
Facilitates communication, innovation, and collaboration to achieve organizational goals and objectives
Travels to meet with suppliers, customers, industry leaders and attends company events or meetings as required
Anticipate resource needs based on project schedules and expected throughput.
Support off-hours schedules, as required.
Self-motivated, and able to efficiently manage simultaneous project efforts.

A successful DevOps Manager will have the following at a minimum:

BA/BS or higher (Masters preferred)
8 or more years of experience in platform engineering using multiple languages/frameworks, or equivalent combination of education and experience
6 or more years of progressive experience managing software, DevOps, or SRE teams
Ability to effectively respond to and interact with all levels of organizational staff.  Competencies include excellent presentation/facilitation, organizational, analytical, interpersonal and written/oral communication skills. Flexible, innovative and able to manage staff, responsibilities and priorities in a fast paced, growth-oriented and time-critical environment
Experience in building cloud-native applications with modern technologies such as AWS/Cloud Computing, Docker, Kubernetes.
Deep understanding of the software development life cycle in an Agile or DevOps Environment
Curiosity about open source frameworks/packages
Deep understanding of DevOps principles including CI/CD Pipelines and the philosophy behind all aspects of automation; the ability to articulate theoretical DevOps knowledge to internal and external teams at a high level
