Your Future Team

This position will be a part of the Emerging Markets team in AIG Investments. This group is predominately a hard currency mandate asset class within Public Credit with a 14 member team based in New York and London. The mandate covers global Emerging Markets including both sovereigns and corporate with a focus on fundamental research.

Your Contributions

This Analyst will initially be working with the corporate analysts with their coverage of both financial and non-financial corporate issuers domiciled in emerging markets. The Analyst will learn how to evaluate issuer creditworthiness through collection of publicly available data, build financial models, participate in management meetings/calls, and assign internal credit ratings.

In addition, the Analyst will also learn how to make investment buy, sell, hold recommendations supported by detailed, well-articulated analysis presented to portfolio managers, traders, senior management, and risk management. The Analyst will also be asked to contribute to multiple group-wide projects in addition to the day to day responsibilities of corporate coverage and analysis.

What are looking for

* A BA/BS degree and CFA or CFA candidate highly valued.
* One year or more of work experience in the financial sector.
* Must be highly detail oriented. No experience necessary in Emerging Markets corporate, however, any relevant experience will be a positive.
* Must demonstrate solid excel and financial modeling skill, including the ability to model and explain earnings and cash flow expectations.
* Knowledge of commonly used credit indices and understand total return and net investment income strategies, ideally within the context of insurance company fixed income investment portfolios.
* Strong writing and verbal communication skills are a must.
* Ability to balance a large number of tasks as the Analyst will be working with multiple corporate analysts.
* Must exhibit a positive attitude, be a self-starter and be adept at managing multiple, simultaneous demands.
* Ability to work closely and constructively with multiple constituencies including portfolio managers, traders, credit risk managers, legal counsel, rating agencies, issuers, and others.
