Corporate Risk helps all Wells Fargo businesses identify and manage risk. The team focuses on several key risk types, including conduct, credit, financial crimes, information security, interest rate, liquidity, market, model, operational, regulatory compliance, reputation, strategic, and technology risk. The group provides leadership, enhances communications, assists with problem identification and solutions, and shares best practices. In addition, the group provides an enterprise-wide view of risk, assists management and our Board of Directors in identifying and monitoring risks that may affect multiple lines of business, and takes appropriate action when business activities exceed the risk tolerance of the company.
The Asset Liability Management (ALM) Risk team is part of WFCs Financial Risk Management group which provides Independent Risk Management under the direction of the Companys Chief Risk Officer. ALM Risk provides governance and oversight for two front-line risk-taking groups, namely Corporate ALM and WFCs Investment Portfolio. The ALM Risk Analytics team provides quantitative and independent risk analysis support to the ALM Risk governance teams to assist in fulfilling their responsibility of monitoring Interest Rate Risk.
This position will report to the Head of ALM Risk Analytics focusing on multiple projects pertaining to the investment portfolio or balance sheet risk management. This person will work closely with ALM Risk subject matter experts (SMEs) to perform independent analytics and push forward new initiatives related to Interest Rate Risk and its components. This role will also closely work with ALM Risk model governance teams in support of the management of model risk, and ALM Support providing consumable analyses that can be efficiently incorporated into reports.
This role should have prior exposure to ALM, be highly creative and adept at balancing practicality with theory, and be able to effectively communicate across the ALM Risk team and senior management.
Specific responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
* Assist with solutions and alternative approaches to the management of Interest Rate Risk, in regards to various initiatives including assumptions monitoring, scenario analysis, attribution of results, and metric and limit development.
* Develop tools and applications for alternative balance sheet actions and structures.
* Partner with ALM Risk SMEs to independently model and analyze asset liability risk taken by the first line, e.g., corporate treasury and investment portfolio teams.
* Work with model development teams to identify and build out enhancements to existing models or develop new risk models.
* Collaborate with others within ALM Risk Analytics to influence decisions regarding QRM/Polypaths or projects and perform analyses of results.
* Contribute to ad-hoc analyses via prototypes, modelling or data analysis.
* Support ALM Risk reporting efforts while constantly striving towards efficiency and accuracy.
* Develop Tableau dashboards and analytic presentations.
Required Qualifications
* 2+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: market risk, capital markets, trading, or interest rate risk; or a Master s degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, accounting, finance, or econometrics
Other Desired Qualifications
* Advanced degree in Financial Engineering, Applied Statistics, or other quantitative discipline.
* Excellent foundation in financial engineering and modeling concepts.
* Strong skills and intuition in balance sheet management, Economics and Finance
* Hands-on experience of behavior models, e.g., mortgage prepayment, deposit attrition, etc. used in ALM modeling.
* High degree of product and related risk knowledge in either US mortgage or deposits products or both.
* Strong Python programming skills.
* Experience with SQL and database design.
* Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
* Advanced Excel spreadsheet skills
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment
* Ability to develop strong relationships with various business and senior leadership
* Reliable team player with strong personal integrity, a solid work ethic and positive attitude. This role requires a highly organized, self-motivated and detail oriented professional with ability to thrive in a demanding environment.
