About the Role:
The Technical Design Engineer II (TDE) is an integral member of Windstreams Service Delivery team who is responsible for understanding our products and a customers technical requirements in a way that ensures the service solution ordered meets or exceeds the customers expectations.
This role is responsible for engaging the customer/customers technical resources, Sales Engineering, Project Management, Provisioning, Operations and other internal teams to ensure he/she has the information to accurately design and implement a complex solution. Additionally, this individual may be accountable on some solutions to insert themselves in the final turn-up of the customer for the solution they have designed. This is a highly technical role that is key to developing and maintaining the trust of both existing and potential customers.
What You'll Do:
* Respond to complex solutions (MPLS, IPSEC, VPN, MNS, Managed LAN/WiFi, SIP, SDWAN, UCaaS, etc.) design requests from the Sales and Sales Engineering teams.
* Engage Sales, Sales Engineering, MNS, Project Management, customers and other teams when necessary to ensure the design is fully understood and all aspects of the customers needs are addressed with a comprehensive solution.
* As needed, participate as needed in the final stages of the installation process to ensure continuity of proposal to product delivery and functionality
* Maintain an ongoing knowledge of Windstream products and technology
* Act as a resource between Sales/Sales Engineering, Order Entry, Engineering, and Project Management to achieve common goals
* Act as a resource with the various installation teams when questions arise about the solution throughout the installation process
* Act as a resource in UAT environment on new product rollouts and system requirement testing
* Act as a resource for our documenting Windstream products and process as well as assisting peers with training (when applicable)
Job Requirements
Minimum Requirements: College degree in Engineering or a related field and 3-5 years professional level experience with 0-1 year supervisory experience; or 7 years professional level related Engineering/Technical experience with 0-1 year supervisory experience; or an equivalent combination of education and professional level related Engineering/Technical experience required.
Do You Have?
* 2-4 years of previous Sales Engineering or TDE experience
* 2-4 years Telecommunications experience, including experience with both voice and data services.
* Must have working knowledge of Telecommunications, Data communications, Networking technologies (IP, DSL, VPN, Web Hosting, Firewall, SDWAN, Wireless, UCaaS, MPLS products, and Network Management and Security)
* Knowledge of MetaSolv (M6), VSR, BPMS, and WinOM preferred
* Solid customer communication and presentation skills
* Strong organizational and time management skills
* Ability to provide technical leadership throughout the organization
* Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
* Strong PC skills, including experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
