Job Description:
* Work with a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and scientists to design components, assemblies, and processes used by the scientific instruments industry.
* Apply these efforts coupled with knowledge of mechanical engineering and design, to proof-of-concept experiments, new product development, and product enhancements.
Requirements:
* B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and 10+ years of work experience.
* Experience in 3-D solid modeling: Solidworks, Pro/Engineer. Direct experience with Solidworks preferred.
* Experience with the application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) in the design process.
* Experience with the design of precision parts. Specific experience with the design and manufacture of ion optics preferred.
* Ability to work with other engineers to understand and solve complex design challenges as part of a larger design team.
* Experience with multiple manufacturing processes (i.e. casting, molding, machining, injection molding etc.) preferred
Desired Qualifications:
* M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* Experience with SAP and Product Center PLM systems.
* Experience with mechanical designs for vacuum and ultra-high vacuum systems.
* Experience with scientific instrumentation, medical devices, or semiconductor process systems.
* Experience with the requirements definition process as well as verification and validation.
* Ability to lead tasks to completion and support them through their product life cycle.
