Job Summary
The Supervisor Open Cut Mining will oversee the safe, efficient and productive operation of the Production crew. Directly supervise and mentor operators on the assigned crew and within the production departments when appropriate. Ensure career and skill development of operators while meeting safety, production, and environmental targets.

Job Description

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

* Visibly support and champion Peabodys Missions and Values
* Act in accordance with and adhere to Safety as a Way of Life Management System
* Plan, direct and lead the work of a crew or team
* Allocate, monitor and control the daily activities of mining and ancillary personnel in accordance with budget objectives
* Regularly inspect workplace for safe and healthy work practices and environment
* Supervise the operations of draglines, excavators, shovels and front-end loaders
* Supervise drilling, blasting, and haulage of waste and coal
* Ensure grade control procedures are followed
* Supervise workers in a manner which promotes good personnel management and positive employee relations
* Liaise with maintenance personnel to ensure optimal equipment availability
* Duties may be partially defined by statute
* Knowledge of heavy equipment operation: shovels, RTD, blades, dozers, and haul trucks
* Abide by and ensure compliance with all company rules and guidelines and all applicable state and federal laws
* Solve problems and situations arising in open pit mining operations
* Coordinate work with other departments
* Ensure activities comply with safety, environmental and statutory requirements
* Other duties as assigned by the company

EXPERIENCE

* 2 years of relevant mining experience required

Physical Requirements

Physical Requirements - Surface Environment

* Must have the ability to stand for up to 4 hours per shift
* Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
* Must have the ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on/off equipment and ladders
* Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA
* Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms/legs and good hand to eye coordination
* Must have the ability to lift/raise 10 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the work shift
* Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light/dark, in and around artificial light, and in a confined work area
* Must have the ability to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evening and nights, with rotating schedules, weekends and holidays)
