Azure Big Data teams (Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, HDInsight, Azure Stream Analytics and Cosmos) present interesting challenges in technologies such as big-data, cloud, storage, and open-source. We build reliable, highly scalable, and highly performing distributed systems for data analytics on Azure. We work with various open-source technologies like Spark, Hadoop, Yarn, etc., and make contributions to these technologies. Azure Big Data team focuses on enhancing the big data services with Industry leading technologies to enhance supportability, diagnostics, and monitoring suite. We build services that enable big data developers to build mission critical applications with high levels of SLA through auto detection and healing. We enable advanced data Insights and recommendations externally to our customers. As an engineer in our team, you will have an opportunity to work on and extend OSS technologies like Spark and Hadoop as well as proprietary Microsoft services. You will be responsible for design & implementation of software components, participate in code and design reviews, assist customers as needed to be able to leverage the service.

Basic Qualifications:

* 3+ years of professional programming experience writing code in Java, C++, C, or C or other object-oriented programming language
* 3+ years of experience in advanced design and implementation

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering or Mathematics or Statistics or Physics OR in place of these 3+ years of industry software engineering experience
* Experience with OSS components like Spark eco system.
* Experience with distributed systems.
* Experience with building scalable cloud services.
* Get excited by the challenge of hard technical problems.
* Solve problems by always leading with deep passion and empathy for customers.
* Experience working on flighting services / toolset.
* Great curiosity and willingness to question.
* High enthusiasm, integrity, results-orientation, self-motivation and resourcefulness in a fast-paced competitive environment.u202F

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

* Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
