Your Impact

This team is accountable for platform architecture evolution to meet the evolving needs of different business lines globally with rapid software deployment. As stewards of critical components in order execution and post-trade, the team is accountable for a high degree of software quality. The team consists of self-guided pragmatic individuals who are motivated to change the status quo in calculated ways.

The team takes a data driven approach to decision making and you should be willing to participate in the full product lifecycle from requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, support, and monitoring trading risks for systems and strategies used by our clients.

Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) is an engineering discipline that combines software and systems engineering to build and run large-scale, massively distributed, fault-tolerant systems. At Goldman Sachs, SRE is responsible for the availability and reliability of our firm's most critical platform services, and ensures they meet the requirements of our internal and external users. We look for engineers who are motivated to collaborate with our businesses to build and run sustainable production systems, which can evolve and adapt to changes in our fast-paced, global business environment.

RESPONSIBILITIES

* Take the lead in SRE initiatives and proactively engage with app dev teams to ensure standards are met
* Perform production readiness and reliability reviews of business-critical systems
* Adhere to and drive incident management process and support a blameless post-mortems culture.
* Develop, support, improve & administer the Firm's primary business-critical control infrastructure
* Create and support automation tooling to improve the reliability of the platform and to increase the productivity of the team.
* Assess monitoring & alert signals to determine impact and risk to the business and contribute to the incident management process
* Implement service level indicators and help define service level objectives

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE WE ARE LOOKING FOR

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

* BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field involving coding and / or systems engineering
* High level of Proficiency in one or more of the following: Go, Python, C, C++, Java, Perl, Ruby or shell scripting
* Experience of leading team projects and mentoring junior staff
* Experience of supporting business critical systems and working with a global team of users
* Experience with UNIX operating systems internals and / or networking
* Strong interpersonal skills, drive, and ownership
* Solving problems from first principles
* Outstanding verbal and written communications, a natural ability to learn in a fast-paced environment, and will be a self-starter with plenty of initiative.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

* Experience in an SRE team, working with SLOs and SLIs
* Experience with distributed systems design, maintenance, and troubleshooting
* Hands-on experience with debugging and optimizing code, as well as automation
