Shriners Hospital for Children Philadelphia is currently seeking a full-time (1.0 FTE) Orthotic and Prosthetic (O&P) Technician II for our Pediatric Orthotics and Prosthetics (POPS) Department. The O&P Technician II independently fabricates orthotic and prosthetic devices, including highly technical devices such as KAFOs, repairs O&P devices as required, maintains inventories, and utilizes time management and cost effective strategies.

Position Responsibilities:

* Independently fabricates and repairs standard orthotic and prosthetic devices
* Fabricates and repairs complex devices (KAFOs, HKAFOs, etc)
* Makes accurate decisions concerning materials selection for each project, using input from practitioners concerning patient size, diagnosis and activity level
* Demonstrates attention to quality by producing clean projects with even contours, smooth edges, aligned joints. Identifies deficiencies and seeks input concerning refabrication if necessary
* Operates shop equipment, machinery, and tools in a safe and correct manner
* Serves as a reso urce for the development or creation of innovative design and fabrication of devices

Qualifications:

- Minimum of three years of orthotic fabrication experience, including:

o Comprehensive knowledge in fabricating, modifying, adjusting, and repairing orthotic devices, with a specific focus in metal contouring

o Excellent technical skill evidenced by strong experience utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, machines and materials, and working closely with a Certified Prosthetist/Orthotist required.

- Experience using an Electronic Medical Record preferred, along with experience or willingness to be trained in OPIE and VORUM (CAD) software programs.
