Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking a Manager, Manufacturing Engineering 1. The qualified applicant will join our Manufacturing team and will oversee Equipment Maintenance, Property Accountability, Manufacturing Facility projects and Tool Crib functions at our Rolling Meadows, Illinois location.
This Manager will report to the Director of Manufacturing Engineering and will have responsibilities that include:
- The daily management and direction of approximately 15-18 Technicians.
- Coaching and mentoring these employees in both discipline specific technical and interpersonal skills in support of their activities.
- Effectively collaborate and provide direction to other functions such as Test Engineering, Process Engineering, Shop Operations and Metrology.
- Administer and oversee manufacturing equipment and property and support proposal activities that support this function.
- Develop and implement plans to improve the overall level of manufacturing support, as well as functional homeroom responsibilities.
- Have accountability for the development and implementation of processes, tools, and strategies to develop a more cost-effective and efficient organization.
- Be responsible for functional department management to include employee safety, staffing, training, and individual performance, in order to meet Program cost and schedule commitments.
- Development, planning and coordination of facilities and manufacturing facility projects.
- Understand and ensure all Environmental, Health, Safety and Fire Protection (EHSFP) policies are being met regarding capital and facility projects.
The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in both technical and manufacturing leadership roles. Occasional weekend and holiday coverage may be needed.

Qualification
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience; or MS degree in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering, or related degree with a minimum 3 years relevant experience. An additional 4 years of related experience will be considered in lieu of a technical degree.
- Demonstrated success leading and collaborating with cross functional teams.
- Relevant experience in manufacturing.
- Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of management and individual contributors.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, Word and Power Point
- US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in electronics manufacturing with specific focus in engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in test equipment fabrication, facility management or property management.
- Working knowledge of product flow and production processes.
- Ability to read and understand product drawings.
- Demonstrated successful experience in Capital Project Management
- Software tools including SAP and databases.
- Expertise in a Manufacturing environment, with demonstrated experience running a work cell, engineering group, or technical projects.
- Experience in facilities planning or capital planning
- Success in leading and developing people
- Experience and knowledge of Safety Data Sheets.
