Position Specific Description
NextEra Energy Inc. and Florida Power and Light are seeking an Accountant I at the Juno Beach location. In this role you will report to the Accounting Supervisor and focus mainly on FPL Property Accounting related activities. Specific duties and responsibilities of this role include but are not limited to:
* Responsible for activities in the areas of compliance, transactional accounting, reporting and analytics required to support FPL operations
* Review and monitor capital projects in accordance with SOX
* Responsible for month end close processes including preparing journal entries and various reporting deliverables
* Responsible for balance sheet & income statement variance reporting
* Responsible for assigned accounts reconciliations
* Support monthly, quarterly & annual reporting and filings requirements (SEC, FERC, FPSC)
* Support various projects as assigned
* Prepare ad hoc analyses and reports as needed
Job Overview

Job Duties & Responsibilities
Prepares financial reports in a timely manner that are in compliance with GAAP and accurately reflect the financial status of the company
Assures accounting integrity of corporate financial data through the implementation of appropriate internal controls
Independently prepares schedules and journal entries
Keeps abreast of and applies GAAP, SEC regulations, and relative company policies, practices and procedures
Performs other job-related duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's - Accounting / Finance / Business
Experience: 3+ years
