Join the Student Programs Engineering, Analytics, and Research (SPEAR) team to lead our business intelligence design strategy for recruiting teams across the globe. The Student Program team is responsible for hiring the best student talent from all backgrounds to build the future of Amazons global workforce. SPEARs job is to equip our recruiting teams and partners with data and insights on the addressable marketplace of talent, global hiring demand projections, and potential process efficiency gains.
As the teams Business Intelligence Engineer, you will own the user experience of our self-service tools and dashboards that enable data-driven sourcing strategies, headcount planning, and resource allocation while delivering a frustration-free candidate experience. You will lead automation of our product offerings company-wide. You will be embedded directly with your customers in Student Programs and work in an agile environment to deliver products with immediate impact. You will drive best practices and set standards for our team on reporting, data visualizations, and ETLs.
This isnt easy much of this work will be attempting to tie together varied best practices across decentralized, global teams. BUT you are joining at just the right time as we are transitioning to new AWS products (e.g. S3, Redshift, QuickSight) that make accessing, transforming and visualizing data so much easier. You have an opportunity to build products that impact thousands of hiring managers across all of Amazon. You will solve complex analytical problems. And you wont be alone. Our SP team includes other business intelligence and data engineers all of whom will be partners for you in realizing our vision and enabling the growth at Amazon thats critical for our customers. Other Responsibilities:
Develop Data Visualizations and Self-Services tools in AWS QuickSight
Write SQL to Extract and Transform Data from Databases
Develop ETLs to automate data integrations from internal and external HR systems
Interact directly with customers, understand their questions and needs, and translate into analytical requirements
Explore and analyze data to find patterns and understand relationships
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
BA/BS degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems or related field and 3+ years of industry experience, or equivalent combination of degree and experience
Advanced SQL querying
Advanced expertise in Excel
Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, QuickSight, MicroStrategy
Experience working with large-scale, complex datasets
Demonstrated strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing
Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively develop and communicate clear, thoughtful, and comprehensive analyses
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems or related field and 5+ years industry experience
Experience with programming tools (Python, R, etc.) to create custom applications based upon analytical needs.
Familiar with HR, Finance or people-related data
Familiar with Redshift, Hadoop, Java Technical proficiency in programs such as R, SAS, SPSS or Stata
Proficiency with at least one statistical software package (e.g. R, SPSS)
Proven capability in statistical analysis (e.g., ability to conduct analyses using regression, modeling, forecasting approaches, and related tools)
Experience with Machine Learning Techniques to Understand Data Patterns and Make Predictions
