Job Description

This role will lead the Data Science function for the Chief Data Governance Office (CDGO) reporting to the Head of Strategy and Analytics. The CDGO organization is leading the new Enterprise Data Strategy that will support Citis business strategy in the transformation from a product-centric, vertically aligned organization to a customer-and-service-centric and data-driven organization. The end-state for enterprise data will be enabled through several critical capabilities: data domains, data governance, foundational data capabilities, and an operating and delivery model.

This role will lead the data science practice focused on identifying trends opportunities to improve Citis overall data quality, using analytic methods (AI/ML). Produce innovative solutions driven by exploratory data analysis from complex and high-dimensional datasets. Apply knowledge of statistics, machine learning, programming, data modeling, simulation, and advanced mathematics to recognize patterns, identify opportunities, pose business questions, and make valuable discoveries leading to prototype development and product improvement. Use a flexible, analytical approach to design, develop, and evaluate predictive models and advanced algorithms that lead to optimal value extraction from the data. Generate and test hypotheses and analyze and interpret the results of product experiments. Work with data engineers to translate prototypes into new products, services, and features and provide guidelines for large-scale implementation.

The leader in this role will be influential in decision-making, a strong change agent and will work across functions to prioritize and deliver common goals and objectives.

Responsibilities:

* Employs software, computer science, and advanced mathematical and statistical methods to design, analyze, build, validate, and help implement quantitative predictive models in order to solve business-level problems.
* Works in a interdisciplinary team to design, develop, and optimize customer-impacting products and experiences.
* Able to internalize business problems, translate them into actionable analyses or solutions, and communicate results effectively to stakeholders.
* Define and implement the framework for the Data Analytics function with key focus on Data Science Analytics
* Develops a continuous learning process to find new opportunities, build solutions, and deployment through agile methodologies
* Creation of implementation plan for the enterprise to adopt analytics framework related data quality, data operational risks, or other data governance areas
* Lead team of Data Scienists
* Create a culture of continuous improvement through analytics. Assessing historical data quality issues and defects and making recommendations for improvements to the data domain teams
* Work with business units to drive adoption on metrics, target state and execution plans
* Engage, influence and collaborate with senior staff to ensure effective delivery of analytics and operational change initiatives
* Analyze and interpret the reports using data analytical methods to identify significant areas of improvement or gaps. Use this information to enhance the data quality, reporting practice, and data management risk.
* Develop and build strong working partnerships and strategic relationships with key partners across the business and technology in aligning implementation and operational strategies
* Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy around analytics and metrics & reporting
* Advise Chief Data Officer on Key Performance Indicators, metrics, analytics, etc.

Qualifications:

* Has advanced degree in technical or applied science field (e.g., statistics, economics, physics, computer science, math, finance, operations research, etc.) or equivalent experience.
* Expertise in data analytics, data science and design thinking
* 15+ years of experience, including 10+ years' managerial experience
* Financial service acumen & or experience to lead large cross functional initiatives
* Excellent relationship management, communication, and presentation skills
* Ability to accurately determine length and difficulty of tasks and projects
* Thought Leadership; must be able to look towards the broadest possible view of an issue or challenge; can easily pose future scenarios; can think globally; and can discuss multiple aspects and impacts of issues and project them into the future
* Strong organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to lead teams through direct and matrix reporting lines.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
* Ability to bring clarity to challenging problems and to help others engage in and embrace a solution.
* Able to leverage strong business acumen to effectively interact with senior leaders and a broad variety of stakeholders.
* Adaptable, flexible, and able to respond to changes in priorities.
* Strong executive presence; confident in presenting a balanced view to key stakeholders and senior management.

Education:

Bachelors/University degree, Masters degree preferred; managerial experience
