The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:

* Inspect the Work for compliance with contract specifications, special provisions and plans

* Report non-conforming work through the Construction Management Team

* Maintain records of the contractors labor force and on-site equipment, in particular noting operating, standby and idle times.

* Prepare a daily report of contractors activities, inspections performed, issues that arise, visitors to the project including utilities, and discussions.

* Meet with contractor staff at the beginning of each shift to determine what work is scheduled and who is on site. Provide this information to the Resident Engineer (RE) and Construction Manager (CM).

* Coordinate and cooperate with project Team (CM, City, Utilities, WSDOT and Contractor) during site inspections with the City, Utility, WSDOT or other agency supervision and subconsultant testing & inspections.

* Monitor and record contractor QA/QC activities.

* Assist the CM and RE in the preparation of correspondence in compliance with the contract documents and site requirements.

* When site issues/changes are discovered, work with the RE or CM to resolve them promptly.

* Monitor and report on the contractors traffic and pedestrian control implementation, verifying contract compliance. Assist with issuance of non-conformance reports if necessary.

* Collect project documentation such as tickets (noting installation location/Station and time), materials certifications and ensure materials delivered are in conformance with the Contract, approved Request for Approval of Materials (RAM) and Record of Materials (ROM).

* Document and maintain as-built records of the project for the CM Team.

* Maintain records of materials testing.

* Audit inspections for conformity to contract documents and contractor submitted plans and/or shop drawings.

* Assist with or prepare Punch lists at the completion of tasks.

Minimum Requirements

* HS + 8 YORE or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Preferred Qualifications

* Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering

* Previous experience working on public works road and infrastructure projects

* 8+ years' inspection experience on similar projects

* Well experienced in civil and infrastructure supervision

* High level of critical thinking skills

* High level of numerical skills

* Must have ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports etc.

* Valid Driver License

* Ability to perform field inspection duties

* Willingness to work nights and weekends Some work is scheduled to occur during off-peak hours for utilities shutdowns, cut-ins and connections. Other work will be required at nights in accordance with permits, City, WSDOT or other agency requirements and allowable public and private work zone access.
