Position Description

The Senior Accountant for Freight Accounting is responsible for monitoring of the Transportation Management System (TMS) as well as month-end entries and analysis related to TMS. Additional duties include balance sheet account reconciliations, weekly freight status reports and assisting with reporting and audit requests. The role requires an individual with strong attention to detail and the ability to identify issues and recommend solutions. This position will be located in Dublin, OH

Responsibilities

* Monitor and maintain the Transportation Management System. Ensure that all inbound and outbound freight costs are recorded accurately and timely.
* Perform month-end close duties, including freight cost center reviews and recording monthly accrual adjustments as needed. This includes working with Finance, Transportation, Fleet Management, Accounts Payable and IT to determine that all costs have been recorded
* Record monthly fleet expenses (Element) and Fuel accruals (Comdata) entries as provided
* Record other freight related costs (Prepass, PeopleNet, Lee Trans, Somba, JJ Keller)
* Record Freight Claim Reserve
* Responsible for monthly analysis of P&L fluctuations
* Prepare and ensure completeness of balance sheet reconciliations in addition to reporting on fluctuations over various time periods
* Prepare schedules for monthly/quarterly reviews, internal audit team, and annual audit
* Coordinate the tracking of freight orders in progress and reporting
* Provide accounting assistance to internal business partners; respond to financial questions in order to meet business needs
* Create and maintain process documentation for assigned duties
* Assist with Internal and External Audit requests as requested

Job Requirements

* Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration or finance
* Five or more years of accounting experience
* Strong attention to detail

* Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with varying levels of management

* Strong interpersonal skills
* Knowledgeable of US GAAP, IFRS and SOX

Technical Skills

* Microsoft Office (proficiency with Excel pivot tables and lookup formulas required)
* SAP and/or Hyperion Financial Management experience is preferred
* Proficiency with BlackLine
