CHILD LIFE SPECIALIST
Help create a brighter, stronger future for the children we serve at Shriners Hospitals for Children Northern California. A family-centered, academic pediatric medical center located in Sacramento, we provide state-of-the-art care for children with burns, orthopedic conditions, spinal cord injuries and other pediatric subspecialties.
We currently have Per Diem opportunities available for child life specialists to work with our specialty populations within our clinic, inpatient units and surgery area.

Requires Baccalaureate Degree, previous experience working with hospitalized and healthy children, and Child Life certificate or proof of eligibility as well as current CPR. A background in Child Development, Child Life, Psychology or a similar field is required. Previous experience with working with burn patients and being bi-lingual in English/Spanish is preferred. Candidate must have the ability to implement therapeutic play activities for individuals and groups. Ability to assess patient behaviors, have knowledge of growth and development as well as children's reactions to hospitalization and illness/injury and be able to implement appropriate interventions and coping strategies. Hours and days will vary and will include weekends.
