Job Summary
* Global role based in St Louis, MO
* Diverse audit role with exposure to both IT and business process audits
* Summer Hours day Friday during summer months

About the role:
We are currently seeking a Senior Internal Auditor to join our audit team and be based in our St Louis headquarters. Reporting to the Senior Manager Internal Audit, the scope of your role will be to develop and implement audit procedures that evaluate compliance and improve business processes for Peabodys offices and mines in US, Australia and China. In addition, you will execute audit programs and corresponding procedures, including identifying and reviewing controls used to manage risk and executing test plans to assess the adequacy and effectiveness of the controls.

Duties will include:

* Support the assessment of internal controls over financial reporting as required under SOX (Section 404 Reporting)
* Facilitating process/procedural documentation, performing walkthroughs, executing test plans and documenting results
* Assist with Information Systems related audit activities, including general controls and application controls testing and the development and execution of data analytic procedures
* Directly assist external auditors with substantive testing procedures for annual financial statement and benefit plan audits
* Design and execute workplans supporting the completion of discretionary internal audit projects and other ad hoc requests from management
* Assist with the identification of key controls and improvements to key controls, business processes, and related documentation

The lifestyle:

This position is offered on a Monday to Friday basis, working from our corporate headquarters in St Louis, MO. Peabody offers flexible start / finish times and Summer Hours giving employees flexibility to finish at noon on Fridays for 3 months of the year during summer.

About you:

* Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field essential, Masters degree preferred
* 3+ years of experience in auditing and / or accounting with SOX exposure (current CPA or Masters degree may account for 6 months experience)
* Public accounting and / or IT audit preferred
* Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license and/or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) certification, or ability to attain either, strongly preferred
* Primary understanding of audit methodologies and control frameworks, professional auditing standards, and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
* Understanding of risk and internal controls, COSO and professional auditing standards
* Exposure to and/or basic understanding of IT audit techniques and control frameworks

In addition to the above, the successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service focus, strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and excellent organisation and time management ability.

Physical requirements:

* Must have the ability to sit for up to 8 hours
* Must be able to use a computer and communicate effectively in various forms, including email and by phone
* Must have the ability to review paper and electronic documents and complete computer entry of data from paper documents
* Must be able to find, remove and return files to/from file cabinets and discuss issues by telephone and in person
* Must be able to operate copier, fax machine, etc.
